Troubleshooting / Re: Problem with ff8 disc 2!!!
« on: 2010-05-23 13:09:53 »
Hmm.. So is there also an ultima edition for FF8?? And I think the Ultima Edition can be bought legally?? I think. :? So what do we do for people who bought the ulima version of the game legally?? All I can think of is feel sorry for them. :(

Ultima Edition is a cracked version and you don't buy it. It's also illegal and the people here cannot help anyone using the Ultima Edition.

I don't think there is an Ultima Edition for FF8.

Cloud meets Aeris after the bombing of Reactor 5, not 1. :D

I've never experienced this problem before. Maybe it is one of the mods you used. Maybe you didn't apply it correctly.

Bad news man.. But why would you want those shinra betas?? Are they needed for something?? Never always had the need to use them.. Sorry just wondering. :-\

I'm trying to obtain a perfect game. Shinra Betas are a limited item and are unobtainable later in the game. Therefore, in order to achieve a perfect game, I must steal 99 of them now or else I won't ever get to again.

I had the Force Stealer equipped on Cloud, I forget which one I had on Aeris, and the Boomerang for Yuffie.
Ok i just checked and Force Stealer gives an error but didn't crash the game for me, try applying my patch and then maybe Millenia's custom models for cloud swords and see if you still get the crash.
Also if you could upload your save game i may be able to help more.

Already had Millenia's custom models.

I'm gonna give 7.6b a try.

EDIT: Ehh, I'll just wait for 7.8 and see if it works then. :P

Holy shit! When I used 7.7b installed that patch, it made everything extremely bright and made the gameplay slightly faster. Plus, I still get an error and crashed when going into battle.

the patch will fix some problems, if you read the full thread you will see what i mean, some of the custom weapons cause a crash with the latest version of the driver so all that patch does is remove some of them, (i havent found out exactly which crash the game yet and i believe there are some more out there still).
and i am also not sure if that is the exact problem your having, if you post your app.log i am sure it will be a lot easier to find out the exact problem your having.

Okay I'll do that if it happens again.

660
@DarkFang what does your app.log say when you try to run 0.7.7 ? It sounds like it could be the same error some other people have had previously.
The previous thread about the battle crash is here, check if thats the same problem your having.
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=9689.0
i released a small fix (with permission from titeguy3) which should hopefully help.
(also the fix isn't complete, there are still a few weapons that cause crash's so if you find them please let me know)

Edit1-
Also the "new_battle_interface" has been in since atleast 0.7.5 so you can always try 0.7.5 or 0.7.6.

So your patch will fix the problem?

When are you going to release the new version Aali?
Probably as soon as you help him out with it

I didn't really mean to sound impatient or anything, I was just curious.

What can I do to help?

662
EDIT2: How did you get the battle menu transparent?

The newer versions of Aalis driver has that option (Not sure which was the first to incorporate it though).

I think it's 7.7b, which I cannot get to work on my computer.

When are you going to release the new version Aali?

664
Why don't you have Aali's newest driver included in your patch?

EDIT: Oh never mind. I tried installing and it crashed when I started it. So I copied a save file and renamed them up to 09 and it worked but then gave me another error and crashed when I went into a battle.

EDIT2: How did you get the battle menu transparent?

EDIT3: By the way, I might have a mirror for the patch by tomorrow morning. I'm gonna upload it to MegaUpload (or MediaFire) in 200MB parts.

How about trying to mount the isos at a virtual drive and copy the files in the cd to your ff7 directory and run the game so that you'll do not need to read the files in the cd instead. If the files in the cd itself is destroyed then yeah go buy the game again. You have the money anyways. :D

Isn't that illegal?

not illegal to make iso's of your own disks IF you own it, its illegal to put them out for download, and illegal TO download, but if the files are destroyed by scratches, the iso won't work

That's the same thing as saying it's legal to copy music from a CD to your hard drive or to iTunes. In some countries, this is illegal. Therefore, copying the game from the CD to an ISO is also illegal.

umm, do you... have some problem with me or something, you came off that a bit strong

No, you were wrong so I was correcting you.

its the way you corrected me, it was, well, to be honest, rather rude sounding, and i wasn't wrong, because i am referring to the US and canada, english speaking countries, most of the time, as i only speak english, these are the only things i'd talk about

Okay you were TECHNICALLY wrong. Sorry if I sounded harsh, I didn't mean to. :P

no problem, thanks for apologizing, sorry if i was being a jack@$$ as well, and im technically not right, not wrong, as it depends on location

Sí señor.

Technically, it should be:

There's always something else left to correct :D

Yet there's no subject in the sentence. Who is loving the grammar Nazis? So it should be...

Nope. That's still not right.

You've got to love the grammar Nazis.

Dammit I was gonna put "You have got" but thought that would be too wordy. lol

Well, at least you've been playing some of the best parts of it.

(IMO, FF7 is at its best at the early stages of the game.)

The only parts I know is from the beginning to the Materia Keeper, Junon canon firing, Ultima Weapon, Ruby Weapon, Emerald Weapon, Jenova Synthesis, and the final battles.

What are they? Are they hard to get?

Wow I just noticed something. I talk about Final Fantasy VII a lot saying it's a great game for its time and it's really good and stuff. But, I just realized I never got to the second disc of the game. The farthest I've ever gotten in this game was to the Materia Keeper boss. Pretty sad lol.

Wow...

I was going for a perfect game and I was on the boat headed to the new continent. Well, on this boat there are enemies called Marines in which you can steal Shinra Betas from them. Shinra Betas are an armor piece that is unobtainable after disc 1 or something. My goal was to steal 99 of them. I steal about 40 of them and I run into a battle, pause it, alt tab out, and do something on the computer. I then turn off my monitor and go eat dinner. I come back and the game crashed.

2 hours of gameplay lost. I didn't even save it at all.  :'(
