well from looking at your app.log i cant see for sure why the movies are skipping but i would recommend trying 2 things
1st if titeguy3's patch worked for you use the same version of the driver that he used (0.7.3)
2nd try lowering the res the game is running at and disabling Fancy Transparency, Try running it at 1280x960 in a window just to see if the same things happen

I went and played a little it seems all movies are skipped "black screen" Also after the skipped movie plays and it goes back to game there is no sound. Only till you enter a new area the sound starts again. but that could be problem with my FF7 music I dont know. I have same settings he used on his installer. And it never happened with his.

here is applog.

I'm pretty sure Aali is well aware of the problems playing movies.  Just be patient and I'm sure he will fix it when he has time.  Until then, use the original movies.

Hi,

I am using Aalis driver and it is greate, jsut two little probs.

First, in Field, and only in Field, I have a black bar on the lower end of my display. I do not remember that to happen with the original and it does not happen with FMVs or in battle.

Second, is there any way for aali to disable the screensaver while playing?
I am using a gamepad so after 20min my screensaver kicks in.
Right now I enable and disable the screensaver in windows but if you forgett to do that...

BTW: I am using the newest driver from aali on an HD3650 with 1280x1024. Keep aspekt ratio is disabled.

with best regards

i get the same problem with the black bar, i think it has to do with the full screen battle option, try turning it off, although i just ignore it since it's not that noticeable.

That black bar has always been there, even in battles (the full screen battle options gets rid of it.)
I believe Aali is trying to get rid of it for the Field screens too, just gotta wait and see.

Hi,

I have to correct myself.
The bar is not present on the world map, the normal menu or battle.
It is present however on every screen inside a city (tested midgar and kalm up to now) and the save screen.

Screensaver is useless if you have a LCD screen (you probably do). Just leave it off at all times.

hey guys!

so i got this downloaded and installed(ff8)....Ive opened up my resolution to my w.s.monitors native of 1366 768...now Ive noticed that things are a little more pixelated (backgrounds, f.m.v) and also the opening sequence repetes the square logo instead of the slide show...the last problem i can deal with...but was just wondering if you guys know how to spice up them pixels make em look nice n crisp?...im not a programmer ..but i follow instructions well so please let me know!!...p.s ive tried magixs launcher 1.31 ...it didnt seem to work, i had a problem with the display not being centerd in full screen..

hey guys!

so i got this driver downloaded and installed for (ff8)

I see what you meant.

Alas, the pixelation is inherent in the backgrounds and videos, there's no way to improve them without completely remaking them, similar to what Team Avalanche is doing with FF7.

Hey, just wanna give a heads up, that with 0.7.6b of the driver in FF VII, the video playback habitually lags behind, and it ends up skipping frames, usually from where the lag begins, until the end of the video.  no other version does this.

EDIT: I know 0.7.6b is designed to be able to skip frames, issue is, the video doesn't lag on the other versions of the driver, it's always spot-on

I was wondering...can we use another shader effect? is there another .post file for use with the custom driver?

We could create nice diferent effects as cell shading..etc...

Hi,
I do not use the screensaver to save energy or stop burning.
If I do not sit in front of my PC it will lock itself up (after 10min) by calling the screensaver (a standard black screen) and demanding the userpassword before unlocking so this is not a option.
Any other ideas?

You can disable automatic screensaver and call it with icon as I do.
Or you can use external program like autohotkey to map a more used joypad button to keyboard button and to send the same joypad event.

AutohotkeyScript
Joy1:: Send {Joy1}{space}

or
Joy1:: Send{myKey}

where myKey is the keyboard button with the same aciton of joy1 button in game

Is possible add a full screen bicubic shader for upscale the 2D background in real-time?
And were is possible download some additional post-processing shader?

Tnx a lot :)

Working on a rerender of all the backgrounds. so the filter isn't really needed

Re-render?  Like the same exact backgrounds just higher resolution?  Because that would be fantastic.
