As you know, I was away from the forum for a while, for quite some time, I was working on secret things and generally improving my abilities, and since then, I have done some pretty remarkable things in Final Fantasy 7.

However, about a year ago, I got pretty depressed and caught up with life as a whole and had no time to even touch FF7 or any other modding for that matter.

And due to my somewhat involvement with the Red Werewolf... project? Does that count as a project?

...I'm not even sure if there's going to be new story, events or anything else other than just the field and battle model and a new menu avatar.

Anyway, I officially hooked up my windows computer for the first time in over a year, and I'm going to try to read through my notes and just try out a few things and I'm willing to take requests if anyone has any.

First on my list, I was sick and tired of the MP never getting any love, so I looked at its design and basically just upgraded it to graphically better parts, while retaining the same design.

I did this in around 20 minutes, I'm going to change the parts over to the MP proper and also change the colours for the different classes, ie, the red and tan ones.

I'll be updating this as and when I do more mini mods, or when I complete someone's request.

Basically you can suggest anything you want, and as long as you have a reference for me to work with, I'll take a shot at it.

Edit 1 - Here's an addition to the first MP, I basically turned him into Malachi, who was his favourite design from the game, I included with and without the helmet since I know he hated them.

Edit 3 - I tried my hand at what Kal was saying, I'm not... really sure what he meant by 1 sided weapons, so I did this as a test to see if that's what he meant, and if not, what he did mean.

Edit 4 - Alright, this one should be what he asked for, I edited it to be roughly the same width as the original blade and did some minor reshaping on it, what do you think?

Edit 5 - Alright, here we go, as a request from Kaldarasha, I updated the field hair for his Zack, and I included some comparison pictures.

And as it's a request, I shall send him a link to it, and when his project is done or reached a certain milestone, then he can release it.

Edit 6 - Seeing how successful that I put the new zack hair on Kal's request, I decided to implement it for the original Zack model, both the lego and the CRP versions. (PRP is going to take a little while longer, but I just need to resize the battle head I did before.)

Edit 7 - Here we gp, Zyzz V1.

I gave him a combination of large knives and staves, I fixed all of the field models and whatnot, when I get the rest of the field models, some dialogue, the kernal fixed, I'll give the requester the files, which he can release if he feels the need to.

I included some other things in there, such as a bonus boss or two that are a few special creations of mine.

Edit 9 - Here's a request that's still a WIP since we didn't finalize the design for this character, in fact, I have no idea what this person even does, other than he's a Soldier 3rd class that'she's a strict by the books type, later on, we'll go over what he'll wear and I get that done for him.

Do you have any requests? I'd basially do anything right now since I'm getting back into the groove of working with FF7.

Now would basically be a free pass for anything you wanted done in FF7 since I can do events, kernal, text, models, etc.

That's interesting work you've got.  I like the boots.  I'm new to modding myself and I'm working on a private mod at the moment but I suck at animations lol.  I'm basically trying to give the MP enough animations to replace a party member.

To make the MP a playable character, your best best is to change Cloud's animations, his animations are by far the closest and I actually did this before, it was a relatively simple one that only took a few weeks.

And maybe this would work better if I include more images of things I did...

Send me please the fusy hair Zack. Also what do you use for the vertex shading? The only way I knew to do it in kimera is rather time consuming and complicated.

I use Kimera for the shading, and yes, it is very time consuming and complicated.

I'll package the Zack hair, but what do you want it for? private use, a project, misc?

That's actually kind of funny cause what I'm trying to do is make a fully playable Crisis Core cloud(not using CC models, just using custom MP and Cloud models I found here).

Edit: I do have a request that might be a tall order in the short run, or it may not, I'm not sure.   I was wondering if you could make a set of one-handed blades that would fit for Reno's battle model, nothing overly fancy, just some things like:

I don't have any real references cause I'm not particularly picky.

PS:  What program do you use to make custom models?  I'm currently wanting to try my hand at it, I've modeled before(Albeit the model I made was a claptrap two years ago) I just don't know what program to use, I tried Milkshape but for some reason when I put it through pcreator it only reads a small portion of my model.

1 handed blades....

I'll try my hand at them, but I'd either need a few references, or you'll get some pretty varied and random results.

How many of them do you need?

If you're making Reno a playable character, you'll need 16 of them, which I can do, but Reno himself does look pretty cool with normal swords, and even if you give him some sword based spells, such as mantra magic.

Well, I'm trying to make Reno's skeleton into a custom character to add in for the mod I'm working on(And once I learn to model myself it may eventually become releasable though many will probably think it's lame) so I'll look for a bunch of examples if you'd be willing to help me out with that. 

Hopefully I'll be able to tweak stuff myself once I get used to it and find a good program.

I created an imgur album with a bunch of examples, I didn't find 16, but I don't want them to look exactly like the examples I have, I was hoping to just convey a general theme behind the blades.

I'm still confused by what you mean, do you basically want me to turn all of the swords into the Buster Sword?

Or do you just mean, the blade type of the buster... or...?

90% of Cloud's weapons are literally just 2 edges, what is it I'm doing to them?

Alright, I changed it, this should be what you asked for, and if this is what you wanted, then I can get the rest of Cloud's weapons changed to be the same in an hour or two.

And as for Chaseddark, I'm working on your request, but I just did Kal's first since it's much simpler, and if nothing else, I can use the first one as a basis for the Red Queen.

Alright, I have all of the normal Cloud weapons sorted, and I included a few other ones, such as the Barog, Heavy Katanas and the like.

I'll package and upload them in a minute, are there any upload places you prefer?

Also, I finished putting Zack's hair on your model.

I'll be working on the tutorial/Barret skeleton for Nanaki and I'll probably upload all  at once.

As for Chase, what kind of model editing are you doing? I could try to teach you or help you blend hairstyles together, the picture I posted before was Cloud's face with Rufus' hair, if you know which characters you want replaced, I can do it for you and include pictures of how I did it.

Right now I'm wanting to learn to mix and match hairstyles till I get better then maybe make my own models so I might release my ridiculous mod out to the world.

I've been trying to give Cloud' head a remodel with his hairstyle from his 13 year old field model with the ponytail so it can be used in battle.
As well as combining Reno's bangs with Cid's hair(minus the cigarette pack and the goggles).  but it might be better to use someone with better bangs like Cloud or Sephiroth, or even Rufus.

There would be no point in showing any images yet, after all, if I did, all that we would see is Barret looking exactly as he does normally, since the battle side wasn't even completed yet for me to convert to a field model.

Or if I showed someone else as a human nanaki, you wouldn't notice because it would look either like Cloud's replacement or a NPC.

I did the hair from scratch using promotional images and from playing Crisis Core and taking a number of screenshots of 'adult' Zack from different angles, I did it in roughly 2 hours.

I actually have a request. There is a famous bodybuilder who was a fan of cloud/sephiroth and I was wondering if its possible for you to make a buff/beefed up cloud or sephiroth. I'd prefer cloud but either will work. The only thing id like to remain the same is the hair but the arms,legs,torso etc can change. You don't have to spend too much time as its for private use. If I do anything with it publicly you will be given credit.


Im also interested in the Aeris from the 3rd post you made. I sent you a pm as well before this place gets crowded with requests and mine gets lost.lol.

No problem Kaldarasha, I forgot to also package the swords and I'm going out to get some shopping for the week done, and seeing  Heaven's Cloud as 1 handed sword got me thinking, and I was also working on a dual wielding character, although while I can easily enough spread Cloud's arms apart in battle, it might be easier to edit Reno so he has the heavier blade on his shoulder, and the lifghter one by his side, then for his attacks, he can do a sort of criss-cross swings.

That image looks amazing. Wow. Is it possible to remove the shoulder pad though and make his shoulder and bicep bigger? Can you show his legs? Those don't need to be muscular,just the upper body. By show his legs I mean cloud wearing shorts. If it doesn't turn out right then the way you have it now would be enough. Looks very cool.

For Aeris its the "mage" one. She has what looks like a cloak.

Looking at the images, it would be a simple job, and if you tell me who you want him to replace, it'll be simple enough to do.

Ie, if you want him over Cloud, I can do that, and even include some custom weapons I made before if you give me a theme. Such as katanas only, longswords only, greatswords only, etc.

Or if you want him to be someone else, such as Sephiroth, that is very easy to do as well.

If there's a precise outfit that Zyzz wore that you want, I can do that for you.

an example could be a typical MMA outfit, which has tight shorts, arm and leg wrapping and either no shirt or a black tank top

Yes I would. Theres lots of images of zyzz where im sure something can be done.

I want him as cloud.

For outfit I really just want him shirtless with shorts,if he does have clothes then a singlet if you can manage that. So a singlet with shorts or shirtless with shorts. White shoes. The shorts red,green or blue colored. no glasses. Sometimes he would wear a pouch like a backpack so there was a strap going around his chest and i noticed your cloud already has this. This doesn't have to be included but its an idea. Fortunate for you zyzz already has an anime shaped jawline and the spikey hair xD

As for weapons the only ones I ever seen him use were a huge knife and a bo stick.

If the hair isn't spiky enough, I can make it spikier, and this is more along the lines of seeing if he was sufficently buff for you. (As you can see, his muscles are starting to clip into his chest, this is really how buff Cloud can be without animation errors.)

Looking through the images, I think the best outfit would be the topless with the red shorts, the white bag and the white shoes.

I've actually finally gotten around to deciding what kind of stance/fighting style I'm going to give one of the new modded characters I will hopefully be working on soon(as soon as I get acquainted enough with Blender to do hair and clothing modifications).  I played alittle FF8 and I decided I liked the G-soldier's stance:

Looking through the images, I think the best outfit would be the topless with the red shorts, the white bag and the white shoes.


So far it looks amazing. The upper body looks just like him :) The muscles definately look bigger. Could you make the hair spikier just to see how that looks?

For the skin color Tan is good or dark tan. Don't want him looking pale.lol. For weapons the sword is fine. Besides Final Fantasy,A knife and Bo he also liked world of warcraft. A theme for weapons around one of those subjects would work. A big sword actually makes sense since he liked lifting heavy weights.

you could maybe get away with glasses/shades depending on how it looks. But yes that's very impressive what you have so far.

Alright, I'll now get to work on the rest of him, it should be simple enough, but I'm about to sit down to dinner. (...I'm kinda poor, so I have ramen and store bought samosas.)

I'll darken him roughly halfway between normal cloud and Barret, add in the white strap, I might just try to substitute the glove for white bands, and be warned, there are no natural masculine legs for the battle side, so I'll have to get creative.

@Kaldarasha - The Gigas itself is too dark to blend the skin tones, and it's barely more masculine than the fleshly Snow, and itan's legs when turned into normal dimensions just look like someone's forearms rather than legs, either that or they look overly chunky.

I'm having a problem trying to move parts cause Kimera gives me an overflow error every time I try to click on a part while viewing the battle skeleton.  I'm 95% sure it's cause I have an integrated  graphics card(cheap computer), but it makes changing animations near-impossible on kimera.  I was wondering if anyone here had a work-around or maybe if my kimera is just corrupt?  Don't mean to hijack the thread, but it's important so I can use the request I put in here earlier.

Edit: I've been trying to rotate parts since that's all I can do(using the arrow buttons in frame options) but not only is it time consuming, it's very hard to get all the parts matching and the weapon doesn't move the right way.

Overflow errors occur when you try to do too much in Kimera, such as multiple opening and edits in one way or another, kimera itself cannot be affected by any graphic card for its capabilities, just what is actually shown to you in the interface, as would anything else be affected.

How are you trying to load the parts? Are you double clicking a part of it when looking at the xxaa? or something else entirely?

It might be better to try to troubleshoot this over skype, facebook or something else, as we can communicate much quicker and in real time..

Did you try an earlier version of kimera? I didn't have time to extensively test 0.97a, but I know for a fact that different versions of kimera are good at certain things, each bringing its own issues and bugs you need to take into consideration before using.

For now, I would recommend trying 0.81 and see if the issue persists, and yes, send me your skype name and I'll add you.

Everything looks good. Only thing is zyzz had chicken calves. lol. So theres no one in the game with skinny/weak calves you can switch him out with? The upper body,head,shoes,colors you plan to use etc is perfect. If the calves cant be small then its fine. I really like it. Its crazy how good this looks.

About the knives and staves that's fine because he actually grabbed the bo but swung it around like a martial artist so swinging it up/down/sideways is ok.

I got to that tutorial you told me to see and I came up with my first trial, now that I've got the hang of it I might be able to do more, however I'm still trying to figure out how to fix darkened field models in kimera.

I got cloud to have his ponytail in battle again, but I won't post a picture because unlike the error one this one isn't asking for help and I don't want people thinking I'm taking credit for someone else's model(which I stuck the ponytail on)

You use any kimera from 0.85 onwards to save the field models, which removes the darkened effect, you could just use kimera 0.95 or kimera 0.97a for it as well.

...Unless you were saving it with the 'enable shading' or whatever it's called, its called on, but if you did, it would be darkened in kimera and ingame.

And it's alright to show imaes of that, it's a screenshot of your progress as a splicer, everyone has to start somewhere.

It's cloud's skeleton, I actually had to elongate the bottom part of the legs because Cloud is a little taller than the MPs(I could have alternatively moved the feet up, but I felt it was more fitting for it to be cloud if he was the right height) and the position of the MP stance made him float a bit so I had to transpose him down a bit.  I got four frames done so far mostly because I fell asleep while working on it.  They only took me about 20 minutes though(albeit the gun is the hardest part because it's attached to the hand.  I could splice it and make the gun a weapon, but I want to give MP Cloud a baton for a close range weapon).

That's actually funny.lol. This would work. you already know how the whole group thinks then. Its exactly what they would say in the game. Making another character Chestbrah or occasional references is ok.

Thinking about it at work, splicing might be able to make custom characters a reality for me.  If I can figure out what kind of costumes I wanna give them and I can get animations set up the way I want to it shouldn't be hard to make a bunch of them, so long as I don't mind using the original FF7 style graphics(Though I do like the Chibi-styles field ones{the custom enhanced ones}) I'm not entirely unfond of FF7's graphics as a whole.

I wouldn't do a complete script change myself, but I wouldn't mind talking over what changes could be made, and if I did do it by myself, I would just do a few scenes, such as first meeting Barret and co, meeting tifa, going to the gym in Wallmart (I considered making a reference to the alleged steroid abuse in that scene, but I didn't know if that would be in bad taste.) and minor ones, such as meeting Chestbrah/Dio. Yes I wouldn't want the whole story changed,it would turn into a months long project that maybe never end trying to get a perfect story. The zyzz mod is pretty much what I wanted.

If you want to make a 2nd version with references you can if it doesn't take too much time. The idea about the gym is cool since they are working out. The steroid joke wouldn't work unless we were going for a full story and you had to know everything about his life. Some people still have no clue he took steroids. lol. But ya the game is in good fun and zyzz himself was all about enjoying every second you live.

The tifa you have with tonfa i think it says 4.9. Could I use that one? If the Dio character doesn't work ill rename Vincent to Chestbrah. Since hes always quiet and has his look sort of.

If I can think up a good redesign for someone ill let you know.

...In said project, I did also skip the scenes between Cloud falling into the church to waking up., along as some other scenes being cut or shortened, such as the scene that the Nibelheim flashback should have happened, it was instead a 5 minute scene where they had a serious discussion about their plans and what exactly is going on.

Also, you want the normal field right? Or do you want the CRP or PRP?

I also like the 3rd class members you made. Looks cool how you modified the leg on one guy and the arm on another. They all look unique and diverse.

Alright, It's just about ready, I'm tempted to change a few spell animations for it to have a bigger difference, but I don't know if that's too much of a change, and the soldiers is the Avalanche that appeared in one of my mods,

Anywho, this is the survivors of the Soldier unit Avalanche, led by Barret Wallace, former Soldier 2nd class.

The original Avalanche unit consisted of 7 members, and they are as follow. (in no order)
Barret Wallace, 2nd class, Unit leader (lost right hand)
Elfe Flavia, 2nd class, Co-Leader (deceased)
Vladislav Lagounov, 3rd class, Strategist (deceased)
Jesse Grinberg, 3rd class, Demolition expert (lost right leg)
Rudolf Havlicek, 3rd class, Medic (deceased)
Biggs Stasov, 3rd class, Scout (lost right eye and left arm)
Wedge Bramson, 3rd class, Sniper (shot in the left knee)

In a flashback, we actually see everyone in their glory, before they're butchered, yay!

Also, being shot in the knee is a serious thing and is referred to as kneecapping, it causes severe damage and is often done with firearms or power drills and the person has severely lowered mobility, while it can be treated, they can never return to their former ability.

In short, Barret overheard something he shouldn't have, and he was sent on a suicide mission, but as insurance, they cornered him and started to pick them off one by one, outright killing several of them, while Wedge was put out of commission by shoting his knee and they moved to the others, they collapsed an archway, crushing Biggs' arm and Jesse's leg, and so on and so forth.

After this, the remnants realized just how wicked Shinra was and formed a resistance movement, using their former uniforms as a way to to initially bypass security, until the heads start to realize they survived. (Which is why they had to jump off the train) and as their numbers were dwindled, they enlisted the aid of people, and after other mercenaries believed their plan to be too suicidal or plain reckless, they came across Cloud and Tifa, both being mercenaries in this timeline that are trying to raise money to rebuild their hometown.

Also in that timeline, Cloud never joined Soldier, he stayed and worked as a farmer and took part in the city guard with any other men old enough to use a weapon, but when Shinra came and some children got caught in a monster's nest, Shinra, along with Tifa and Cloud who served as guides and help woth the search.

The children were in the Dragon's den, where Schizo was, Zack and Sephiroth forced it back while the others got the children safely away, but Sephiroth and Zack were careless and only killed one head.

As a form of revenge, it followed them, and the fire head set fire to the town, in the aftermath, Sephiroth went to report to HQ, while Zack's guilt weighed heavily on him, and he helped with the reconstruction of the town, but since he can't actually build anything, he was going  to raise money, and from a request from Cloud, he trained him how to use a sword, and taught Tifa how to us batons that came from a deceased MP and his own.


But right now, I'm still feeling some pretty heavy depression, so I'll probably just take the rest of the day off.

I spent most of the day doing chores, but not too long ago, I was helping Chasedark with his MP Cloud's animations.

I edited those models with Kimera 0.97a, maybe there's a bug in the coding that renders the field eyes to not load? I edited the rest of the field models (such as Malvado Aeris, LP Tifa, etc) with Kimera 0.95, and I myself didn't get a chance to test it ingame yet, mainly because I was trying to see what I could 'cut' for the mini mod version. =P

Also, would you mind if I changed the magic system a bit and tried to do a mini enforced class system?

Ie, Zyzz is Earth (Because he can probably lift and throw a mountain at someone)

Tifa is Ice
Aeris is Holy
Nanaki - Fire
Yuffie - Water
Cait Sith - Non-Elemental
Vincent - Darkness or 'Space'

But from what I have planned, I'm going to leave Shinra as is, but I'll change the Turks up into a new mini organization of sorts, which will make battles more interesting, mwa ha ha haaa!

Don't use 0.95. In 0.97 is the blending issue resolved, which made the character in the temple scene in visible when they should be transparent.
The problems with the eyes is a missing texture link in the RSD file or a wrong texture ID for the groups (ID 0: left eye, ID 1: right eye and ID 2: mouth).

Although, how do you explain that the face textures aren't loading ONLY on the models that I edited with Kimera 0.97a?

I can just restore the textures and rsd from the unedited ones if that's the issue, but why do they show up in kimera? If there's an issue with the rsd or texture, it normally comes up in Kimera as a broken texture.

And I am very well aware what texture is what for the field models.

About the missing textures, in 0.97a an issue with textures can sometimes occur when saving a field model that has had parts added to the bones and then confirming to 'compile multi-p files' (not exact wording, I'm away from my PC at the minute). The textures will display correctly in Kimera but be missing in-game. To avoid it, I usually just hit No when prompted for the compile but it leaves the field model with some extra files/clutter (these extra files are usually denoted in caps rather than small case letters). This problem doesn't seem to occur with battle models, though.

There was a problem that you couldn't changed the texture IDs in prior versions of Kimera. Maybe this effects now your models (?). I use Kimera 0.97 now very long and I haven't encountered this issue. But some of the PRP models did had this white face bug, however there were built with older versions of Kimera.

What exactly do you mean with corruption? Have you tried to save the model in a new folder without any file in it? Sometimes it works for me when Kimera can't merge p files correctly.

Have you checked if Kimera masses with the texture ID or more probably is that it dosen't update the rsd with the texture information of the other parts, maybe the texture loader needs to be cleaned from the textures and then they need to be re-added.

@Kal - They corrupt as in the physical parts become twisted due to corruption, or they might look fine, but as soon as the game tries to load it, instant crash.

In Kimera 0.95, you can change the textre ID, but IIRC that's the first build where you coud.

@Sega Chief - That sounds like the most likely suspect, and would perfecty explain why it happened, since in those models, I did things like add eye patches, and the chest sash, etc

@Haku - To confirm, you want Yuffie wearing a black hoodie with blue trim (hood down) beige shorts and black sneakers with white soles?

@Kal - Other than imports, there's really no need to even change the texture ID, so I never even need to use it since 90% of my mods are splices, or it's just something like scratch hair, which when I import it, I don't make it become a texture and I just vertex shade it.

Although, I myself didn't even touch the texture ID, although the issue most likely is because I added additional parts and hit the compile button, so we know what the issue was and it's essentially resolved, I'll just readd the normal rsd and textures.

@Hakuryu - Alright, I didn't even notice the cap in the picture, that might be complicated to do since there's no battle hat naturally in thegame, what colour do you want it? I can battle convert and shade the NPC baseball cap, might not work perfectly though.

Bear in mind at no point, did you say what gender the new character was going to be, just a colourless sketch that could be either a boy or girl (if nothing else, hoodies are able to completely hide details like that)and it looked to be a younger person, which meant the gender was basically obscured since there would be no difference, other than what's below the waist, but I'm not going to model down there. :P

As for the 2nd pic, colour references are simply colour references, and in the first one, it could have either been a girl with short hair, or just a boy, if nothing else, she reminded me of Karin from Bleach.

That's good to hear it may just be Kimera. I thought it was a setting i didn't have turned on or something like for my graphics card. Yes you can change the magic system  ;)

For the new magic, I have the actual spells changed and renamed (I can name them normal things if you dislike the new ones) I have the new materia setup(not for the new ability trees though) and I have 5/9 people setup for their materia, and I'm not going to lock down their materia, so you are free to edit them if you wish, but the changes I put on it were there for classes. =P

In terms of the other changes, I'll include a mostly new intro that'll require you to think on your feet and will be a harsher intro to it.

Other than that, it quiets down for a while, until when we beat Air Buster., at which point it picks up again, etc.

but while the game itself is harder, the characters are going to be more skilled to compensate, to make it feel as if they were really soldiers or whatever.

You NEED the shop, and since there's no materia anymore, you get 1500 gil from where we would have found the Restore materia, and you are supposed to head back and you MUST buy a spidersilk, at least 2 physical barrier items and as many potions as you can.

The first time we fight him, he has the same stats as the Guardian Scorpion, and the next time, he has 1.5 times stats in almost everything, so without the spidersilk, he WILL get 2 hits every turn and deal almost double damage, so you need to be in the back row and hit him with as many normal attacks, grenades and normal spells you have, and it's more of a battle of endurance than anything.

600: yes, that's a boss, another video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=UUoqLm0IHxwUf7yI7I2mh-VQ&v=PFg0qs2hRH8#t=163) has the actual field model in it, but at the time, I was too lazy to put all the models into the first video.

Alright, I have a mini update.

In terms of game content, I incorporated everyone's materia (Still working on the learning tree, but it goes something like this:

Zyzz
8AP - Dia
40AP - Tera
100AP - Cover and Counter Attack (10%)
200AP - HP and Defence Up
700AP - Strength and MP Up
1100AP - Cover and Counter Attack Up (30%)
1200AP - HP and Defence Up
1700AP - Strength and MP Up
2100AP - Cover and Counter Attack Up (50%)
2200AP - HP and Defence Up
2700AP - Strength and MP Up
3100AP - Cover and Counter Attack Up (70%)

In short, All i really worked out was when we get new stat increases, it's difficult to properly calibrate when we get new abilities because I don't want them too early, but not too late, and the way I'm calibrating them basically requires you to exclusively use said character up until that point.

Also, while I'm making the game harder, I'm also making AP MUCH harder to get, used to be that we get say... 2AP or 6AP per enemy, in most cases, it's down to 1 or 2 AP, except for bosses, which are always a steady 100AP, so you really need to consider who you want to take part in each boss, in terms of who is lacking in abilities, as well as what the boss is weak against.

for instance, we might have a long range encounter, so straight off, you'd consider Zyzz, Barret and Gazz, however, the boss is weak against Fire, so we want Nanaki in the fight, and the boss himself is strong against Lightning, with armoured defenses, so we can make the team something like this: Zyzz, Nanaki and Vincent.

Zyzz because he needs to be there, and he is built like a tank; able to defend from physical attacks and punish the enemies, he can get double or quadruple attacks (2 or 4 physical, or 1 magic and 1 physical) as well as offering basic healing spells makes him a valuable party member in any circumstance.

Nanaki has fire, which is good for the enemy, but some of his attacks have the chance of breaking through the armoured enemies, as well as having a unique spell called Bloodlust, which puts him in a stat where he has Haste, Shell, Protect and Berserk on himself, the effects of this lasts for around 3 minutes or until it's healed, but it can only be used on himself. (When berserked, he cuts through armoured enemies.)

Vincent has dark magic, which allows him to inflict heavy damage and blind enemies (...Which I think is bugged and doesn't actually change accuracy?) as well as having spells that are guaranteed to break through defences, coupled with his gun, making him long distance.

Although, if Yuffie wasn't used much and she's around 120 or so before getting her next ability, it might be good to use her, because most bosses have either respawning enemies, or have enemies leading up to them.

Also, you likely didn't notice this from the video...

But the first battle is also a 'test', you have no spells, no special abilities, armed with 3 potions and 1 grenade, and you're up against 2 wolves, 1 MP in the back row and a Soldier 3rd Class in the front row.

However, the enemy placement made the Soldier be the LAST one on the list, so if you just hold down the attack button, he'll be the last one to even be hit, and the wolves are able to howl to completely revive it's fallen wolf brother, which is done 3 turns later, so you want to carefully manage the fight, if you don't kill the wolves quick enough, they'll infinitely respawn, and I set them up to take 4 hits to die.

So you want to get them both down to either 1 or 2 hits, but if you neglect to take care of the Soldier 3rd class, he WILL mess you up, he has (weakened) 2nd tier spells, which can take around 1/5 to 1/3 of your HP, and the MP in the back row will continue to just shoot yo every turn, it doesn't hit that hard, but it adds up.

So you want to handle that fight by killing the Soldier 3rd class (1 grenade and 1 attack will kill him, otherwise you need 5 normal attacks, which point will leave you completely massacred) and then weaken the wolves and kill them, before finishing the MP off.

At which point, you'll learn the Dia spell, which will heal you for around 70% HP at early levels, so it's invaluable to have, but Zyzz doesn't get alot of MP until around level 12.

And I set it up so that the first time you fight the boss, all you really have is Dia and (maybe) a few grenades if you got lucky and they dropped from enemies and anything you were able to buy from Wedge just before the boss.

I strategically placed the shop there y'know. ;)

However, the save point isn't until AFTER said boss, so that itself is aother test, but if you can pass him, then you have earned the first elemental spell, which makes the early portion much easier, but you'll also have to choose carefully between healing and using offensive spells, since you cannot buy anything to restore MP at all, and you really need all the MP you can get for the boss.

I may add a tent to his stock so you can be at full strength for the real boss, and this by itself is harder by the fact you're solo as opposed to having both Cloud and Barret at this point.

That first battle sounds like it could go on forever with the wolves healing each other. I'd definitely try to take out the Soldier 3rd class before anyone else.

I was wondering why the shop was there so early and never realized the possibility of a stronger 1st boss waiting for you.lol. Woulda ran straight to the boss like "I can take him".

Basically the way I'm doing it is like this:

I'm looking at how many bosses, mini bosses and roughly how many battles we'll do in each area, and from there, I think about what we physically need to continue through there.

Ie, the tutorial needs healing magic and some kind of offensive spell, so we get the healing one after the first trial, as it's a prerequisite to take on the boss, but to take down the other enemies, we need offensive magic as well as the boss, who is much weaker to magic than physical damage.

However, from there...

We kill 2 guardians (120AP) we'll get roughly 50AP for that section, as well as having a forced encounter with soldiers, which will give us 24AP at which point Barret and Tifa will join, so their materia begins at 214AP.

Then we kill the Air Buster (100ap) and kill enemies in a longer section,  but enemies in that area will start to be able to poison us, so we need to get Poisumi, and that's why we earn that one at 300AP as that is a little ways into that area, and when we get it, we'll be grateful for not needing to carry 99 antidotes.

But what I'm doing is that process, but for all 9 characters pretty much, and making allowances for if you favored one thief over the other, etc.

(Tifa is a 'Thief' class, while Yuffie is the 'Ninja', which means she has a far greater emphasis on speed, as well as high tier stealing skills.)

So on and so forth, which is also complicated as I need to calculate roughly how much AP each person should have, and from there, when they'll get abilities.

I am making allowances though, in the final area of the game, we have 3 penultimate boss fights, and those enemies will allow everyone in the party to completely max out their abilities for the final battle, since we need to use all 8 of them.

By the time we get past the Air Buster looks like they will have a good amount of AP. Having Poisumi is much easier than having antidotes. Im guessing only 1 character will learn Poisumi and this will be the healer so to speak.

By the way did you figure out what was causing the white eyes and mouth on some of the characters?

The way I'm working it out, the absolute highest AP we need to max the characters out is 5000AP.

In terms of bosses, you'll have 2800AP if you don't take part in ANY of the random encounters or sidequests, but from minibosses, we always get 20AP, and a mini boss is something like the first Guardian encounter, or a NPC standing alone in the desert, he's entirely optional, but if you beat him, you'll get 20AP for your trouble, and in terms of how hard that guy is, you'll be better off just killing random mooks.

And the last time I was calculating what we needed and how many AP we would have had was easier, since that was for a 2 character mod, everyone else just joined briefly for a few fights as a guest.

But I'm coming up with that we need, yay.

And I am currently deeply depressed, again. I probably won't work much on it today, and I need to clean up my house.

Will there be some boss that's super difficult to beat like ruby/emerald? I know you are making it challenging as it is but just wondering if you ever got the idea to make an enemy that takes like 2 hours to beat or something.

Ya its hard to do stuff when you are depressed. Unless you got that zyzz mindset and life is a party xD

(Looks in the dark corner of the FF7 mod, there's a dimly lit cage with a horrible abomination with red eyes rattling the cage, the air is colder simply by his presence and he darkly mouths "Let me out.")

...I can't say for certain that I have any super bosses planned.  ;)

I tell a lie, I have 11 of them planned, all are optional, but are basically the same level as the Ruby weapon, but need entirely different strategies to beat.

If you want a run down of them...
All of them are in 2 stage battles btw.

Mammon, Belphegor, Leviathan, Satan, Asmodeus, Baal, Lucifer, Malachi and Crystal, Kao Ka, Nova, and a certain demon from a certain corpse city known as R'lyeh. >:D

The way that the first 7 goes is that they're in a human form, then transform into their true form.
Malachi and Crystal is intended to play out like Ornstein and Smough from Dark Souls. (They're reasonably easy going, but depending on which you defeat first, the other goes Hulk and changes dramatically, like the Lost Number boss.)
Kao Ka changes between different 'modes', and in each state, he is healed by his current elemental affinity, he can dish out the absolute strongest spells and attacks in the game, and beating him is a matter of learning his different modes and responding accordingly.
Nova acts similar to Kao Ka, except he focuses more on summoning monsters, his battle is alot like the Demi-Fiend one in Digital Devil Saga 1, which is one of the absolute hardest bosses in any videogame.
And good ol' Cthulhu... I will not spoil what he does. He is truly a nightmare.

I always thought the game was a little too easy so this will be fun. The Zyzz mod is fun. Thanks for making this.

Huzzah for learning how to mod.  Though I'm barely working on graphical mods right now.  I just got a goblin to successfully fit in cloud's skeleton :D.  However my computer doesn't like Kimera so I can't fix the weapon position until I fix the error.

I'm not saying this to be mean, but I stopped, I don't have the physical means to mod the game anymore, nor do I plan to in future.

As well as this, I have fully deleted my FF7 folder off my comp, complete with everything I have ever made for it, publicly and privately.

Unless something is uploaded, there is no way to get it again.

Its not really a 'psp' version , the psp only emulate the original playstation game,so its more correct to say psx version .

There is some things you need to know about the psp/psx modding.

Mods that import custom data like the ones in this thread are impossible  on psx, the only way to modify a psx version is with already existing models, as you can see here he created his own models and weapons, so there is no way you'll have this on console.PSX version is limited in memory, implanting too much detailled characters will result in a crash. In addition to that,unlike on PC, there is no tools for modding 3D models, everythings must be done with hex editing. For these reasons , i suppose, most of the mods that change characters graphics are for PC.

If you really a big fan of Cloud and psx version i remember that Lazy bastard uploaded a costume mod for Cloud in shinra uniform,in field,world map and battle, that looked really cool, far more detailled than the original cloud's outfit. I dont think the mod was uploaded here but must be easy to find on google

1/You must open your ISO ( not the eboot) with CDprog
2/Changing the battle model:once ur inside  the iso browse the folders until you find BATTLE6 (or something like that, anyway its the last battle folder) u'll find a file named CLOUD.LZS , right click on it > insert file , now choose the modded cloud.lzs from lazy bastard
3/Changing field model: now go back in the main ff7 iso directory, u'll see a FIELD folder, go in , find CLOUD ( i dnt remember the extension  but there is only one cloud file in this folder u wont miss it), right click on it > insert file, and choose the modified cloud field model from lazy bastard mod
4/Changing the world map model: same as above but in WM folder instead of FIELD folder, there is 2 WM folders if i remember  u have to find the one with WM0 , thats the name of cloud world map model , ther two others are tifa and cid
5/ Close CDprog, convert your modified ISO in PSP format and ur done

This mod was the very first PSX graphical mod i saw, I could never release mine without the knowledge from his edited files thats why i remember it even if im not a big fan of cloud :D

This may be look tempting for a beginner to mess with the characters with CDprog but swapping already modded files is one thing, while editing them to be playable cant be done without knowledge in hex editing. But you can still swap sephiroth.LZS ( his battle model) with Cid for example, u'll have a playable sephiroth instead of cid BUT this the ' easy way' because he'll have cid 's limits break (it will be buggy) and since he will not be edited he will lack advanced animations  like 4*slash, and he wont have a field model (he have an existing battle model but the field model is compressed with many other npc, so unlike cloud and his team u'll never find him in the field folder) But at least you'll have a modded cloud and a playable sephiroth in the same party, without any hacking knowledge, thats better than nothing.

I had a fully edited and playable sephiroth who could replace cid and barret in term of compatibilty, for field and battle, but my hdd crashed some month ago and i lost these data, the sephiroth  from my actual uploaded mod is the real one,meaning he is not compatible with any other characters except maybe aerith, and more than that its an auto installer so its impossible to get 'only' him, so like i said ur best bet would be the easy way, by swapping only his battle model  with another team member

Edit: you can change his portrait too, in the MNU folder, if, for example, u swapped cid with sephiroth in battle , and u want him to have his portrait , u have to exctract sephiroth portrait, right clik and extract the file who looks like zephiros.MNU or sephiroth.MNU i dont remember well, then go on cid.MNU and insert sephiroth 's portrait. I think thats all about the basics with cdprog
