Title: Crash in FF7 During Cutscene
Post by: ViagraPolice on 2007-08-06 01:24:44
While I'm on Disc 2 of FF7, I get to the FMV after you defeat the dragon in the Gaea Cliffs and climb up the mountain to see a swirling tornado. I think the movie is called "Great Pit." It seems to freeze up during that specific movie only. I started playing the movie in real player to see if the same problem happens and at 13 seconds a black screen comes up saying Truemotion Codec needs to be updated at Duck.com. I'm just confused because I don't get this error with any other FMV.

Just out of curiosity, did you actually try updating your codec? Also, are you running FFDshow by any chance?

I have the klite codec pack installed and have truemotion codec 1,2 selected as disabled. The weird thing is this is the only movie up to this point that has given me an error. I have the TM20 codec installed, I don't know if that's the latest codec though since they discontinued support for it.

If you need it, put your save game in the Crash Playthrough Requests thread at the top of this forum.

There is an updated codec included in the "upside-down movie patch" which you should install if you haven't yet (see the FAQ).  In fact, that's all the patch is.

If that doesn't fix it, it's possible that your disc is bad or something.  You can try moving the movies to the hard drive (also in the FAQ), and then replacing that movie with another (good) one to try to get past that point.

Otherwise, you can have someone play past that point for you like Synergy Blades suggested.
