General Discussion / Costa Del Sol - Anime Style!
« on: 2005-07-29 00:33:35 »
You may remember my costa del sol model from quite a while back. Well, I've finally gotten off my lazy butt and worked on it some more. I decided to go for an anime cell style instead of super realism for the moment, and this is the result:

Turned out rather well so far methinks :D Still a ways to go yet though heh.

I've grown somewhat bored of modding at the moment, so I decided to do some modelling for the sheer hell of doing it :) I've always wanted to model some of the locations from FF7, so I decided to start with the Costa Del Sol:

Reference Pic #3 (the port, which I've just modelled)

Four Renders

It's coming along quite nicely I feel. Will update the pictures as I get more done :)

General Discussion / FF8 - the 'closed' shops in Esthar
« on: 2004-12-14 14:49:01 »
I bought FF8 on the day it was released, and have played through and completed it (fully completed, including all secrets etc..) probably 30 or more times now. However, one thing that to this day still eludes me is the second closed shop in Esthar, the one that gives you a Rosetta stone if you click it enough times.

Has anyone ever actually managed to get in this shop? Is it even possible to get in, or is it just there to annoy and confise? And if you can get in, is it really worth the effort?

Any info on this would be appreciated :)

General Discussion / FF7 + 3dfx Voodoo3 = Marvellous :)
« on: 2004-12-11 13:33:33 »
Well, I think I can safely say I have had just about the shi**iest week imaginable with my pc. First, I got warning signs that something was wrong when my pc rebooted itself during a session in 3dmax (a serious error message accompanied the reboot). So I broke out the DVD's and started backing stuff up like crazy. Shortly afterwards (and before I had everything important backed up) BOTH of my 80Gb hard disks failed at the same time. There goes 100+ Gb of stuff, minus about 30Gb I managed to get backed up. So I buy a new 40Gb disk to keep me going, get it installed, get everything set up nicely, and what happens? My damn graphics card dies as well! :(

There is a silver lining to this dark cloud (sorry, unintentional Cloud pun there heh) though :) I've had to install my old 3dfx Voodoo 3 for now until I can afford a new graphics card. Man, I'd forgotten how nice FF7 looks when running it on a 3dfx card. It beats Direct3D hands down.

Anyone else experienced FF7 on a 3dfx card? If you haven't, you don't know what you're missing :) Go and buy yourself a cheap voodoo from a bargain bin somewhere and experience FF7 how it is meant to look.

*me goes back to playing FF7...

Hi all :) Ok, I've notcied a strange issue with the ingame timers (both menu and danger timers). When running the game in software the ingame timer ticks once every two seconds, so one second of ingame time == two seconds of real time. But in hardware mode, it ticks at the correct speed. Just wondered if anyone else has noticed this? I've read through the various FAQ's and topics here, but didn't notice anything relating to this.

It's not a real problem of course, because it works to my advantage :) Such as the first reactor mission, where the 10 minutes actually works out to 20 minutes in software, and gives me enough time to get Cloud and Barret's second level 1 limit breaks. I'd be interested to know why this is though, especially since the game runs normally, not at half speed or anything.

Thanks!
