I had the same problem a couple other people have reported, with the game starting to load and then immediately shutting down without any error warnings at all.  After I won the game I'd uninstalled the game/mods and then re-installed with more mods selected and that's when the problems started.  So the first thing I did was the obvious step - uninstall again, re-install with the mods I knew had worked fine last time.  However, the same thing happened - shut down, no warning, as soon as I tried to play.

I finally managed to get it working again by doing a system restore, then uninstalling again, and removing *everything* left over in the game folder.  I also removed the bootloading program itself.  I then re-installed the game, made sure that worked, then unzipped the bootloader program again and re-ran it with the settings I'd used the first time.  That fixed the issue - for me, at least.  Don't know if it'll help anyone else, but I figured I'd share just in case it does.  Good luck, all!  :)

You're doing some really great work PitBrat.  Thank you.

I'm excited about 040, but wanted to go ahead and start a game with 039 in the meantime.  How does the transition to the new version work?  Will my save files from 039 be compatible with all the updates in 040?

just back up your saves beforehand. open up the folder that you have ff7 installed in. there is a save folder with your saves inside. just back up that folder and put it back in when you do your reinstall

just remember when you want to do a reinstall of bootleg its always best to uninstall ff7, delete everything out of the folder it was installed in, restart computer, reinstall ff7, rerun bootleg.

But Pibrat :) My question was HOW to fix the HQ Aerith issue :D

I know that i Can fix it with PCreator, and apperantly now i can fix it with the new ulpg too, but how?? Which file should i open, and in case of ulgp what to do with it?? I can't find a 3ds file connected to HQ Aerith, and don't know which lgp file, and what to do with it.

Please, help, because i want to play the game already ^^

The tutorial on the first page of this thread describes in detail how to install the HQ Aerith model.
It also links to all the necessary files.

suggestion for 0040 if its not too late. i personally dont care but others may. for fmv cutscenes add an option for no change because people may want their new videos from the rerelease.

To my knowledge, it's a part of BFE.exe. My knowledge is not so knowledgeable at times though.

UMI itself isn't technically part of Bootleg, but most if not all the models can still be installed.  The options are set up a bit differently between the two, but for the most part, the first two pages of BFE mainly do the same thing as UMI in a slightly different way.

I haven't tried it yet (since the current bootleg just won't install properly for me), but I also suspect once you got it working the way you wanted, you should be able to run UMI (multiple times if needed) over the top of a bootleg installation, since as I understand it, it works with your existing files.

It would, of course, be wise to make initial backups of the lgp's (at least battle and char, not sure if UMI touches any others offhand.. possibly flevel?) first, just in case.

I'm not having any game issues - yay! - so this isn't a very important question.  I was wondering if there's a way to install Grimmy's Tifa upgrade manually without having Yuffie installed as well, since Yuffie causes issues/game crashes.  And if not, is there an upgraded Tifa and Yuffie that isn't done by Grimmy somewhere?  I only ask because before I had the Yuffie issue I absolutely adored the Tifa upgrade, and I miss it.  It just seems wrong that Aerith and Cloud look so fantastic and poor Tifa looks like, well, she came from a game done decades ago.  :)

Hello. New here. I was just wondering (sorry if it's already been asked) if there was any special instructions for the new Re-release that SE did in the last few days. I've messed around with the bootleg and can get the game to launch with some mods but some of the graphics look funny, some spells don't quite come out right. Just not sure if I did it right for the new rerelease as it seems that its a little different then the discs.

Thanks!

Hey guys when I'm installing bootleg my install closes at "Recovering Remix Files" then closes and goes back into the bootleg installer? I've tried reinstalling multiple times but it always ends up there?

There's a bug with the ulgp tool that prevents it from updating the battle models on some systems.
I'm still waiting on an update to fix this problem.

I'm not certain why the music cut out.
Try these steps:
  Run FF7Music and click configure.
Adjust  the volume level and output device.
Make sure you're running FF7music.exe from the FF7Music folder and not from the ficedula folder.
Open the Volume Mixer and adjust the volume for the playback device, applications and FF7 executable.

Ok thanks.I'll try to fix the problem with music right now.
And thank you for your bootleg, great tool. Oh yeah, another thing... the menu background is ,uhm, gray? I'm using my laptop right now,and it has screen res. 1280x800
I installed HD buster bu Wren Jr.

Edit:Not working, couldn't fix music issue...tried to change other  settings too and still not working.Maybe, reinstall? :(
After ~1 hour: Reinstalled everything, still same problem :( omg...
---
Ok so after a bit of searching in the forums ,and entering 4 words (path's for music if to be more correct) and there you go.Works like a charm.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this... but I'm having IMMENSE issues with accuracy in battles... i mean i went nearly 5minutes (not exaggerating) without a single player or enemy landing a physical hit or spell hit... VERY FRUSTRATING! only using the build in Bootleg mods

Re: [Tutorial] Bootleg Configurator and FF7 Mod Installation
« Reply #1696 on: 2012-08-19 13:28:19 »
Hey guys, I'm also getting the access denied error. I've reinstalled the game into a non-system folder, ran with administrative privileges, made sure all mods are in the same folder and still nothing  :|

So I thought that I would download the new Square Store version, however this is incompatible with  Bootleg since it doesn't feature an FF7.exe file and instead opts to use a game  launcher. Will a future version of Bootleg account for this?

Thanks

Update:
I decided to try and see which mods are and are not compatible with the new version by installing them manually, I've found that many mods such as FFVII Remix 2.5.1 are completely incompatible with the new release (and will in fact break the install) I have yet to try it with model updates but I will update as I go.

rbahamut,
Are you using the Hardcore mod?  If so, it's normal to have reduced accuracy.  Also, it appears the OpenGL driver isn't installed correctly.  Run FF7Config.exe as administrator and select the custom video driver.

JowHoof,
Does Bootleg complete?  There is an bug in the ulgp tool that prevents some mods from installing when using Bootleg 0039 on some systems.
Bootleg 040 will support the PC Download re-release version of FF7.  The re-release is converted to the old version so some new features are not available: achievements, cloud saves, cheats.

Negatory Batman no hardcore mode thats the first thing i checked and the APP i posted was the very last time I installed the game so i heavily moddified it from the original way i had it which was pretty much as vanilla FF7 as it gets but with the new character textures only
