I hate using magic, so I like to brute force when I can and molest all the enemies lol.Sometimes though, you need it!(I couldve used some dispel there for sure!)

Dont forget to morph the heavens cloud! Ima post more vids of the materia cave bosses/hades boss/gelinka battles. They are INSANE!

Yeah I suck at ff strategy, Im always a brutalist, Its faster with speedhack but I cant record when using it :(

But in regards to that how else am I gonna do all that damage? Otherwise Id be dealing like 3-4k max lol.
No spells are that strong I dont believe lol.

yeah same here, i usually tend to just always be on the offensive. i mean who needs strategy when you can just rape them

so let me get this straight, you like it easy....so you installed a "hardcore" patch to make it ALOT more difficult???

Yeah pretty much, Im stupid I know. But whats the use of playing if I have to limit myself? I could have done all this at much lower levels and it would have been much more challenging, and prolly will do a low level playthrough next. But this time everything MUST DIE!
Title: Re: Hardcore Mod Tips/Etc Topic.
Post by: Klownboy on 2010-07-06 10:35:18
i'm thinking about doing a low-level playthrough as well...but without the hardcore patch for sure xD
might to the resonable difficulty patch though.

well i just finished the bombing mission after dying the first 3 times, lol.
The easiest way i found was to stay at the trainstation for a bit, until i got up to around 15 potions. Then i entered the reactor, and stayed on the bridge for a bit fighting the blue guys and the little floaty things. I stayed here until i had around 10 ethers, and still around 15 potions. After that, i went to the actual reactor and fought against those trucks for quite a while, basically until i couldn't easilsy level up(around lvl13). When i went to fight guard scorpion i had 5 bolt plumes, 10 potions, and 8 ethers. The battle was pretty easy, but it still took a good 10 minutes and bolt plume/thunder/limit break, repeat.

All and all it was pretty satisfying to beat guard scorpion and the first reactor, normally i can pummel through that section of the game in under 15 minutes. I've just gotten to the avalanche base, so i'll add any tips i find for really difficult sections.

Anyone want to clue me in on good enemies to steal/morph from?

Go to the train graveyard and make sure you get a TON of Fire fangs, you will need em in the shinra hq and later.Plus the enemy's there drop ethers like mad and you can just go back to the slums to heal.

well i seem to be stumped at Jenova-Death....idk what to do lol
at first i just tried using the fire ring, and fire amulet....but i guess her attacks are no longer fire  :|
she also cast death, and the death count down spell, forgot what its called lol
and apparently ribbons don't protect against death...so how am i supposed to kill her?
Title: Re: Hardcore Mod Tips/Etc Topic.
Post by: jeffdamann on 2010-07-07 04:35:08
I think she was changed to water, IDK for sure cause I am now at the end of the game.

On that note, here is something I have posted in here TWICE and has mysteriously disappeared without warning. Once to the trashcan board, and once reposted it got deleted again, as well as the trashcan board topic....

Emerald Weapon Epic Hardcore Fight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9jOn7B-TCw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9jOn7B-TCw)

Tell me how to improve my strategy on this one.
Title: Re: Hardcore Mod Tips/Etc Topic.
Post by: Klownboy on 2010-07-07 04:40:51
well i suppose i could check it out and see if she is water...but then i'll have to worry abouth the death, and death-clock attack she uses...

as for emerald weapon, what i would suggest is FARM MORE SOURCES!!!!

EDIT: well i decided to check it out using ProudClod, and it looks like,
Red Light - No Element
Tropic Wind - Fire, Wind

so i have no idea how i'm going to go about this, since ribbons don't protect against death...really tempted to just cheat, and edit the file

don't do that, if nothing else works run around and lvl up! And all you need to resist insta death is resist materia or that item that does the same thing.

Imo she was quite easy....Now Im on omega weapon lol
Title: Re: Hardcore Mod Tips/Etc Topic.
Post by: Klownboy on 2010-07-07 19:57:17
yeah the insta Death is the only thing that gets me. if i'm able to resis that, she's no prob.

Added Effect + Destruct, or Safety Bit.

hmm...should try that, and would the destruct materia have to be lvl up?

Check it out yourself. You can check it in Status from the menu. But it works with a level 1 destruct materia.  8)

Post by: Klownboy on 2010-07-09 19:53:29
well i equipped the added effect with Destruct, and well, she was a piece of cake.
but only cloud was left...probably because i wasn't too worried bout keeping the others alive
that and i had no phoenix downs  :-P

EDIT: now i'm at the corel mission, where you have to stop the train, and wondering if its the same strategy as before with theo, locke, and venus?

how the hell do you beat the 3 swordsmen that attack you when you recieve level 66 keycard? Im dead almost immediately, and even if i do manage to survive for a few rounds, it seems like they get triple the amount of attacks out that i do. I tried tossing loco weeds and it seemed to help, but one critical hit from anyone of these guys and im dead. Im around level 16, and honestly i haven't had any trouble so far.

They gave me a tough time to, loco weeds, fire fangs, and bolt plumes help here. Yes they do get many more attacks than you, so watch out. Do not let the one that casts berserk berserk you, and make sure hews confused so he winds up berserking one of his party members instead.

First take out the Curing one, I believe hes the purple one, because he will cure and revive the other members ALL the time.
Next concentrate on the blue one, this guy can deal some serious damage, especially if he's berserked.
The other one sucks, and just does some sort of kill move when he dies, watch out for it.

Go up 2 floors although you cannot unlike the doors and fight the fights that have Soldiers and Robots. You can steal a Hardedge from these soldiers that may help you a good bit,I forgot what the robots steal was.Lvl up here until you feel confortable(fire fangs and bolt plumes come in handy on the lvling as well)head back down and save, and then give em your all.

anything worthwhile that i could steal off of them in the process? I already got a hardedge, but the tip about going 2 floors up is priceless. I gained 2 levels in a matter of 10 minutes.

Yeah The blue one just has crap(x-potion), but one has a fairy ring and and the other has some armor I believe.

I believe this (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=6818) is the hardcore mod.

The Cloud model is Apz's, but since he ripped one of the textures from Dissidia, it's now illegal.

Ok, this is the only mod I am going to put on my FF7.

How do i do this?

Just download the installer and open the installation program; it's all pretty straightforward.

error with the scene.bin...

I am going to check the normal topic, but will this hurt me?

You should ask in the programming feedback topic (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=10031.0), but I suspect one of two things is happening. Either:

1. The installer doesn't have permission to edit the file (try running as admin)

Or

2. You've edited your scene.bin file in some way and the installer isn't recognising it. Try copying over your current scene.bin with a fresh one from the FF7 install disc.

I am reinstalling completely to a new folder, I know all the directories so it should be no problem. If the problem persists I will continue asking ( I have already dropped a post in feedback forum)

I really discourage you to install on a different folder. Some mods can only work if the game is installed in the default location mainly the TA patch.
Title: Re: Hardcore Mod Tips/Etc Topic.
Post by: sl1982 on 2010-07-25 01:35:23
I have no idea why you think so. The TA patch will work wherever you put the game. It even searches the registry for your install location.
Title: Re: Hardcore Mod Tips/Etc Topic.
Post by: nikfrozty on 2010-07-25 01:39:09
Really? I haven't tried it. I assumed that it won't work because when I installed TA patch before it says "if it isn't there I can't help you" or something similar.

I'm at Gongaga. Just beat the Turks, my highest is Cloud at level 29.

Also, turns out that dream powder is extremely useful against the turks.
