Title: hi everyone i need some help on understanding animations swaping in wallmarket
Post by: old boss on 2010-07-14 16:39:58
hi i need some help on how can i change an E.skill into a new attack , I've tried using the animations sheet :

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AniNoDVsrYhVdEV6UEtxSkZrRnFlT2lzUUEwT1Rwbnc&gid=0

but whenever i change something i don't get the right animation eg : i swap-ed frog song's animation into Thunderbolt which is D6 in the sheet but that didn't show thunderbolt it showed another animation , so what am asking how do i convert any normal enemy attack into E.skills and  magic ?  am using wallmarket by the way .

thanks.

Hello Old Boss. It looks as though you found my spreadsheet.

I suspect you've misunderstood how the animations work. You can't use spell animations in enemy skills.

Here's the process for using the spreadsheet

* Find the absolute index of the animation you want in the 'indexes' tab of the spreadsheet
* Go to the 'obtaining' tab, and find the 'relative' index you need to find the 'absolute' index in your chosen move type (spell, enemy skill, etc.)

So, if I want to use the Cold Breath animation for Frog Song...

> Cold Breath's absolute index is 68 on the PSOne
> I go to the obtaining tab
> To gain absolute index 68 in an e. skill, I find out, I need to use the relative index 32 in Wallmarket

There are various reasons why, to do with the way the game handles having only a one-byte digit to set animations, but far more than 255 animations available. But, you probably don't need to know about it.

As you will soon find out using the spreadsheet, you can't use spell animations in enemy skills, enemy skill animations in summons, summon animations in enemy attacks, etc. This is to do with the 'offsets' that are added to relative indexes to obtain absolute indexes.

Oh, I thought he meant using the Bolt animation!

I must have pokemans on my brain.

I'm surprised, Bosola, that you didn't link to this topic (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8195.msg98685#msg98685) like you usually do to answer these questions. Although your spreadsheet does have all that data in raw form so I guess it's equivalent.

Suffice to say, that's how you determine which animation to use for what attack.

What did you have in mind for "? ? ? ?"?
