I've searched everywhere to find out but it just gives me results with the text of the logo not the one used in game. I'm trying to experiment on something but I can't start until I find out what the font is called.
-
Its a custom font. The chances of you finding it on the internet are almost non-existant.
-
Is that so? Maybe I'll just try it on a somewhat similar font. Thanks for the reply anyways. :)
-
I guess you could work a way to make your own from the texture?

What do you mean make my own? Make a .ttf file from the texture? I'll have to learn it first though.
-
Yup:)
-
It's really Verdana.
-
Wow! It is verdana! It looks the same with the texture done by TA. Thanks. :)
-
SH*t seriously? Why didnt anyone tell me this when i was redoing fonts.

:P ;D That happens to me all the time. Oh well.

Except it's not Verdana. I just did a quick comparison of a FFVII PSX screenshot and Verdana. The lowercase t and g are noticeably different, at a glance. Then again, it could well be that they used Verdana as a base, but had to modify it to make it work well as a bitmap font on the Playstation.
FFVII PC seems to use an upscaled version of the PSX font (kinda looks like hq2x, actually), suggesting that Eidos did not know what the original font was (a lack of communication between Eidos and S-E! Unheard of!).
-
yeah that's what i edited.... there are some noticeable difference. 1 of which is probably just caused by the font being squashed a little more. The tails on the g etc as Covarr said are different, they are chopped off. I'd say they probably edited Verdana.
-
I dunno. Here's a close comparison (FF7-PSX on the left, Verdana on the right):

It's tricky to see, but the first things I note are:
*The 's' of Verdana has its 'tails' curl a little
*Quotation marks
*J's 'tail' is longer; J has a 'hat' (an 'awning' on the top of the line)
*Tail of VII's Y curls a little and stretches
*Verdana's characters are usually wider
*Letter 'I' has a 'head' and 'foot' in Verdana
Amongst others. It does look very similar, though.

This should speed up the new font process? This seems like the best way to update this font :)
-
Woh..With this knowledge wouldnt it make switching the two out a very small project?
-
I am going to test this out and see what it looks like. If it turns out people like it i may redo the fonts.
edit:
It doesnt look that bad. Only the save part is done.

the l looks a little close to the e in select and awkward.... other than that I like it!
Is the new font going to keep the Grey background text?
-
Well the l was not changed so it is most likely an alignment issue between the two fonts. And im not sure, i like white, but the original was slightly grey.
-
No what I mean is the original has a Grey-Black outline, because they added a Grey-Black font behind the white to give it a bit more depth. Have a look>

Also note that LV HP MP seems to be different a different font. Will this be taken into consideration? If I remember, the other TA font didn't?
-
Actually if you take a look at the texture itself it is more of a drop shadow then an outline. And i have no idea about the HP LV. We shall see
-
Oh yeah I know it is present on the texture, what I mean is they prob just duplicated the font and placed it behind? Then again it could just be an effect.
-
Yeah, they just duplicated the font and offset it. I prefer to use a real drop shadow.
