Title: FF8 - Won't run in hardware mode
Post by: Hiro on 2010-07-19 17:31:18
I can't seem to get FF8 to run in hardware mode.  Whether I choose software or hardware mode, either from FF8Config, FF8Configurator, or FF8 Launcher, it always looks the same - very pixelated, most notably on character/monster models.  I extracted Aali's GL driver to the FF8 directory and am using the ff8opengl.cfg to adjust settings, but I  can never seem to get it to run in OpenGL mode without the blocky pixelation.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Is there someone I need to do to install the OpenGL driver for FF8 other than extract + edit ff8opengl.cfg?  I had no problems with FF7.

My system:
Athlon 6400+ X2
4 GB RAM
Windows 7 x64

Any help is appreciated!

Scratch all that - turns out Linear Filtering being turned off makes everything very blocky.  Turned it on, and now the 3d models are all looking much smoother.
