I know this is off-topic but i need to know. Does anybody know of a prog i can download that converts bitmap to JPG?

My microsoft paint doesnt open jpg files so i doubt it could save them must be a light bug in winxp, as well as not bneing able to play system shock 2 :(

Whether or not Paint can handle JPG's depends on which filters you have installed. That depends on which version - if any - of MS Office you've got. So you can't count on it opening anything except BMP's. It might ... or it might not.

I use vuepro.. it works and to skip through pictures just hit the space bar i love that feature.. and you can set slideshows.. yeah everyone else does that too but can yah hit the spacebar? he he he...

oh maybe AC DSee too that one might be good.. my friend uses that

Get yourself Photoshop...or at least Paint Shop Pro. Both can handle hundreds of formats.

yeah, i uses paint shop pro 7 for all that stuff. and it comes with loads of other stuff to play with which is fun.

I did use to have paint shop pro, I loiked the browse function but since my hdd was erased i havent put much back on.

Whacha you waiting for!! Load it now!!! Photoshop is as slow as a turtle going for a grand prix race. Just use PSP.

I had this demo of a program called Advance JPEG Compressor.  Its really good.  It cut almost all picture sizes by more than half.
But it didnt let u save them.  

Does anyone know of any that are totally free-ware?

You could use the GIMP (there is a Windows version). It's rather large ... and slow ... and non-Windows ... but it is still a good, freeware, graphics editor.

I agree with Halkun. If you need to convert between formats,  Irfanview  is by far your best choice. I've used it for a fair amount of time, and I don't really have (m)any complaints. It supports a *ton* of formats (lots of plugins), a couple languages, and, best of all, it's free.
