Title: Phoenix Rejuvenation Program in battle?
Post by: livetruthfully on 2011-02-12 16:15:47
Hey guys, I recently installed the Phoenix Rejuvenation Program and just had some questions. Does this only apply to the field or the battles as well?

And if it's only the field, what do I need to do to get the higher-resolution Cloud and other characters in battle? I just installed Aali’s Custom Graphics Driver successfully to my understanding (I chose Custom Driver under the listing, and it says self-passed, ready to use.) However when I tried running the Avalanche High Res.exe, it says I haven't installed the Graphics Driver or didn't do it right. Truthfully put I don't even know what the Avalanche High Res program does, I just assumed and hoped it was for the battles.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and could help me out here? I'd appreciate any assistance, thanks everyone.

PRP is almost exclusively for remakes of field NPC's. Avalanche is mainly 2d effects upgrades (as well as a couple other things like an updated barett model for battles and a new diamond weapon on the world map.) For getting the game to look as good as it can right now you should use both.

Alright great! Thanks for your reply, then I definitely want to use Avalanche. I have PRP set up already, but for some reason Avalanche just won't run.

It keeps saying I don't have the Aali's Custom Graphic Driver set up, but I've done the process a thousand times and I'm confident I'm doing it right. I've chosen the custom driver setting on it and gotten the "okay" from the program, and I configured ff7_opengl.fgd to my preferred resolution (1440x900, full-screen.)

For some reason Avalanche still won't start right (please install Aali or re-install if you've done it incorrectly) and I've re-installed it about 5 times. Just updated to the 0.7.10b edition too.

Do you know where I'm going wrong friend? Truly mindbloggling  :|

And for reference, I've got the v.1.02 official patch set up, although I would assume it's been overwrited with PRP.

You need to run ff7config.exe as administrator and set the graphics driver to custom.

Holy (#*&@ you're right that did it! I guess all I needed was the running as administrator, that's what set me back this entire time.

.....Damn vista.

Thanks man!

did you configure the .fgd or.cfg ?
i think that's a difference...
Maybe you can turn off the user notification service,
don't know how it's called in english,
this helped me with installing all patches.

I did the .cfg, didn't do as much as I thought. I ended up getting it to work by bypassing administrator rights (Vista), and my biggest problem after that was using Aali's newest graphics engine, which for some reason showed me nothing but blur. After I downgraded to 0.7 I was set. Had I realized there were multi-patches like VII remix that would've saved a butt load of time, but I learned a lot so it's alright.

Thanks for your help anyway friend.

No Problem.
I think learning is way cooler than just applying remix ;)
