Ok.  Here's her site:

http://www.geocities.com/rinoa_dawnwind/html/palace.html

Check out the music section, particulary the part labeled "Final Fantasy Fever".  These aren't from any particular FF game, but she wrote these from scratch as the music for a ficticious Final Fantasy game.

I don't know if anyone has already stumbled upon and told you about this, so my apologies if this is old news.

I meant anyone here, on these boards.

Actually, VGmusic.com was where I got the link in the first place.  I'm mainly interested in the opinion of the people here.

Plus I was thinkin', she could be of help with either FFSF project (ok, that could be a bit of a stretch), or the FF7 Remake project.

-edit-
Geez!  Get this:  I check the "send e-mail when replied to" box, and I don't even get anything until at least 3 posts (including this one) were posted.  Outlook was open, and (of course, due to dsl) I was connected to the internet ever since I posted the thread, so its not like I came back.  I was in the middle of writing my reply to SFX1999's post when I finally get the e-mail that says, "hey, somebody replied".  -_-

Oh, and Darkness, that last line in your post sounded to me like the entire thing was meant to be sarcastic.  Was it?  :-?

One more thing.....how does it sound with the Various FF7 SoundFonts (In particular, the XG Font)?  You see, when I heard her boss theme using the Microsoft GS Synth, it didn't sound to well, but XG hardware's instrument set made it sound extremely impressive for fan-based FF style music.  So, try the XG font.  Speaking of the boss theme, I think that is what FFX's Boss theme shoulda been.

Wow, she's amazing! I wouldn't say she's as good as Uematsu though, but she's fairly young, so she could probably get very far over time if she's this good already.
Argh, I wish I was that good!

Indeed, she has an obvious gift (though she's not on par with Uematsu, Mitsuda, Shimomura, Sakimoto, or the others "up there"). That doesn't negate her accomplishment though, she *is* able to somewhat mimick the style Uematsu uses.

Darkness: I have that problem myself. However, I have also discovered that if you keep striving for being "extremely good" at something, you never will be. People around you might praise your ability (whatever it may be), but you yourself only see its flaws. The art is to realize what you're actually good at, and accept the things which you're not

For example, I'm a grade 5 violinist, organist and pianoist and everyone thinks I'm great but I can see my mistakes, eg.rushing time. However this is what keeps me striving to get better (5hours a day practise) so striving is not a bad thing but remembering that one may have faults which someone on par with you can see should encourage you to strive harder
      did that make sense

For one thing, I said her skills seem to be on par.  I didn't say that they absolutely were on par.  While she may not be the as good as the other names Qhimm mentioned, I was mainly pointing to the fact that for someone who's writing fan-based music, she's certainly one of the more skilled people that I've come across.

Striving for excellence is a good thing, as long as it doesn't become obessive to where you start forsaking other things, or becomes detrimental to physical or mental health, i.e. crazy sports parents.

And Goku, I wasn't in anyway criticizing your choice of words. I was merely expressing my own opinion, which is no more right or wrong than your own.

Oh.  Duh.  Sorry.  At first read, it came across as a criticism of my wordage.  Sorry if it sounded like I took too much offense.  In reality, no offense taken.

Now that that's out of the way, I have something else to say to those of you who wanna hear more of her work.  On the VGMusic Forums (http://www.vgmusic.com/forums), under "Music Composition/Critique", she hangs out under the screen name "Destiny".  People post songs there for people to check out and give responses, so you might want to keep tabs on that forum if you want to hear the stuff she's planning on working on.

I wonder how she'd feel if she knew there's a whole thread about her on a board she's probably never heard of.

Hmm. She IS good. The way she writes her music is similar to Uematsu but I'd have to say her style is quite diffrent.

Shes very good at telling a story though the name of the song and its melody. This is what Uematsu does very well as well. But bah. Listen to his music enough and we could all throw out something like him..though perhaps not quite up to that standard.

We should send her an email on behalf of the remake team asking her to join up with us. We may not need midi composers now but when we get a final product out I'm sure were going to want at least a few remixes on the old FFVII music.

It wont exacly harm us in any way, in fact we need the heads at this forum nowadays even. Of corse as long as she dosent shout it our madly... but think about it. She could be of use to a great extent.

Hey, she posted one of her newer FF songs.  It's unfinished, however (meaning its gonna stop abruptly, albiet ugly way of stopping too.)

Anyway, here's the direct link to the song:

I still can't get over how good she is at imitating Uematsu's style.

Two thumbs up.....   :)

But I still get a message 'Error Opening MIDI file' when I attempt to use Goku's link though..... any ideas why? I could listen to her other MIDIs in the website though.

I feel that the Remake Team should invite her to join the Remake Team. Heh. I bet she can compose some nice musical scores....

Edit - Silly me. I have saved the midi file into my HDD... it works now   :D

Actually, it would be worth it for some of you to visit the VGmusic boards.  There's a lot of untapped talent we could use....

For example, here's an original piece, (written as a FF boss midi) from a guy called "ManaMan", a timpanist/percussionist.  Here's the link to the Midi:
http://www.vgmusic.com/forums/files/81027-FFBossTheme.mid

And, if you don't mind, here's what he said about it:
Quote

Okay, I ditched my last attempt for this one, and I must say, I really impressed myself! This is like a mix between the boss music from Mystic Quest, FF7, and FF8. I'm especially proud of the drums right where the low strings come in...it sounds random, but if you listen closely to the bass drum, you can hear some distinct patterns and rythems...I'm proud of the result!

So, what do you guys think?  I thought he did a clever bass line part when he looped it, for some reason that brought a smile to my face.....

It's not a bad piece of work... though why did it make me download the midi?  hmm... that was wierd...
