+ What do you recommend for replaying FF games? Any mix of mods for the same game?
-
Currently there's next to nothing known about FFIX. Some effort is being made to decipher the savemap, but no mods exist for the game yet.
-
ANd for other FFs? I know there is a "Mod"-subcategory, but I find it a bit...confusing.
I mean finished or beta mods. Or maybe also graphical improvements, if those are more than "I have changed whole 5 textures!!1". Something with a solid base...
Or maybe also a mod-pack, containing more than one mod to be played.

There aren't any for FF9. Some work has been done on extracting and viewing models, but no mods have been released. Since there's no PC version, hacking is far harder.
The Mod category is indeed confusing, because not all of the mod releases are in there; the category was made recently and not all of the old threads have been moved.
Nearly all of the mods on these forums are for FF7. There are a few for FF8. It's also worth noting that most of the mods are for the PC versions of the games.
Out of all the mods that have been released, I'd recommend gjoerulv's hardcore mod (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=6818.0). It doesn't change how the game looks, but it improves the gameplay and makes the enemies put up a fight. There are some new bosses, too.
If you want graphics mods for FF7, you may also wish to look in the "Team Avalanche" section. It's a work in progress, but some superb textures and models have been made.

for ff7 or fff8 you might want to look at the tools section of the wiki its less confusiong (but not as updated) as the mod section

Thanks, that provides me with a WAY better overview. :)
Can I use more than one mod at the same time?
However, I still have a lot to play so I don't think I will re-play FF VII, but maybe VIII, in the next months.
What about FF IV till VI hacks, preferably for the GBA versions?

we are not a rom hacking community. mainly we use the PC games to do our mods. i don't know of any ff4-6 projects, here.

Armorvil made a mod for ff6, snes version.

I wouldn't say I made one... It's only playable until the Phantom Train / the Veldt. And even so, someone told me that his game crashed in the Phantom Train. Here is a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH4W2DM_Sxo) (with part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9rb1AF_JF0), part 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyUe4JELL7Y) and part 4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qZRZ5ugjMk)). This rom hack is such a mess you can forget about it, anyways.

There are sound hacks for FFV and FFVI GBA, that replace the instruments to be higher quality. I'm sure they can be found at romhacking.net (http://www.romhacking.net). In fact, that's really the first place you should look for rom hacks of any sort, with the exceptions of Super Mario World (SMW Central is a better place to find 'em) and Sonic games (Sonic Retro is the go-to spot).

At slickproductions while creating a long time project, they found 118 bugs in FF VI.

Thanks. Ironically, I was sent from there to here when I asked about FF IX :P
However, I hoped that I could get some insider tips about earlier FF games hacks here, so I asked.
Although it seems that there ARE FF IX hacks - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFiqexfiEwE
Unfortunally this one isn't in any language I can understand.
