Title: SOLVED: FFVII Sound Effects Problem...
Post by: CrazyPedestrian on 2011-05-07 22:37:40
Hey guys... I've just finally finished installing ff7 with all these new bells and whistles:
- Aali’s Custom Graphics Driver
- Phoenix Rejuvenation Project
- Team Avalanche’s Graphical Overhaul
- FF7 Music Patch
- Millenia’s Custom Cloud Weapon Models

I had to do it the long way since the Remix Patch doesn't seem to install properly and makes the game all glitchy. Everythings worked like a charm, and I'm really impressed with all the improvements  ;D

So now i wanted to play ff7 on my big screen tv and surround sound system through HDMI. Also working nicely and all, with only one problem... all the sound effects are still playing through my laptop speakers while the music plays fine through my surround system. It's really frustrating me cause I've checked all my setting on my laptop and made sure all the audio settings are set to HDMI out in the ff7config file. I even tried muting and disabling my laptop speakers, but all that did was mute the sound effects.

How do I fix it so i get all my sound working through my surround system?

BTW, if you need to know, im using Win 7 Home Premium - 64bit

Try running ff7config as an administrator. Settings have a tendency not to stick, otherwise, on Win7 and Vista. You can thank the new UAC feature for that.

Wow... thanks alot! I ran EVERY file needed to change all sound and video options and then re-ran ff7music as an administrator
and it worked like a charm! And the video quality even seems to be better now too! It's wierd though cause I set all the file and folder preferences to "run as administrator" before...
Seems windows 7 is SUPER-EXTRA-PAIN IN THE @$$ cautious about running files as admin...

Thanks a bunch! Will enjoy game with awesome sound and vid quality now!  ;D

It is... slightly.

Still, it's a tremendous pain, the way it's handled.
