Title: FF7 Audio.dat Info
Post by: ShinRa Inc on 2002-04-09 08:00:00
Probably not one of *the* most usefull things to make it's way onto these boards, but it's the best I've got at the moment.  -.-

Yes, I have too much time on my hands.

Not the most scientific of terms, but you run out of terms to describe all 723 sounds reaaaaally quickly...

Aha! Domo arigato ^_^

This needed to be done (for the Remake if nothing else); it'll certainly help a lot. Cheers!

Yeah, I figured since there isn't much else I can do at the moment, Might as well look into doing some of the easy-but-tedious-and-boring things that no one else really wants to.      :o

I'll probably add bits and peices pretty often, but I'll let you know of any large updates.

Also, I'm doing it all by memory, so if you think I'm wrong....I probably am.

Out of curiousity, I haven't noticed anything along these lines, but is it possible to fiddle with the Sound Effects in a similar manner as the MIDIs?

What, you mean to replace them with your own?

Sure; Cosmo can do it.

Ahhh... Alright, I haven't fiddled with Cosmo that much, sorry about the stupid question.  -.-

Well, this one's slightly less stupid:
How can I set FF7sound to read audio.dat from a Different location than Square's Default folder on loading, instead of always getting an Error message and having to manually locate the file?

I'd assume this question is answered in the Readme or history documents, but your site seems to have misplaced them...

Nah - the site only displays Readme/History documents for my own programs, where it can find them automatically off my own computer.

If you mean Qhimm's FF7Sound - I've no idea. My own solution (and yes, it's biased ^_^) would be to use Cosmo again; it's sound tool is basically exactly the same as FF7Sound but with the added ability to replace the sound effects.

Well, at the moment I'm just catalouging the sounds, and FF7sound takes up less room (Window wise), so It's easier to be able to do other things at the same time.

I'm sure you'll agree, sitting and just listening to sound after sound while doing nothing else can drive a person to mental imbalance.    :o
