Title: Capcom vs SquareSoft. New fighting game!
Post by: vvalentine on 2002-04-12 07:20:00
Does anyone know more news about this?

I read somewhere that Capcom and SquareSoft are planning to do a fighting game.  Kinda like Marvel vs Capcom, I guess.  The game development has not begun, but I believe this to be true (I guess squaresoft is liking the idea of working with other companies).

Anyone knows?  Please post more info about it.

Capcom VS SquareSoft?  are you kidding?
I would be the first one to know if there was a fighting game with Capcom and SquareSoft characters in it.

There is one SquareSoft Fighting Game out called Ehrgiz (like Zell's Ultamite Weapon in FFVIII) it's pretty cool (for Playstation, old style Playstation game {all the loading}).  I would enjoy a Marvel vrs. SquareSoft game though...

Capcom vs. SquareSoft....hmmm.....

It'd be a fair fight, at least until Cloud summons the Knights of Round......

Total battle time:1minute (due to length of summon animation).

No, I don't think summons would be included in the game, unless the character's special ability is summon (like rydia or kaze).  I guess they would have limit breaks though.

A Lion Heart or Omnislash will be very cool IMO   :naughty:

Yeah, but Limit Breaks would be a little unfair... in Ehrgiz you could play as Cloud and Sephiroth and they could use Comet (#?) as a special move... and Tifa had potions and Fire (#?)... oh well... summons and Limit Breaks would be a little unfair... unless used in moderation...

FFTactic_Boy:  Chances are that limit breaks would be included.

Kendrilian:  I don't think limit breaks would be unfair.  If it's going to be a game like Marvel vs Capcom.  It's like doing a special.  I guess in the game limit breaks wouldn't cause much damage.

Hey.....You know how Squall has roughly 3 different variations of his Renzokuken?  Each variation differs in the number of hits he does before the random finishing move.  It's like either 4, 6, or 8 hits, i think.

Anyway, they could do the 4-hit for a level 1 special, the 6-hit for the level two special, and so on.....

Also, I could see how they set his attacks: weak punch for using his fist, medium for a gunblade attack without the trigger, and Strong would be the gunblade swipe with the trigger.....

Umm yeah, I agree with you; limits won't be that cheating if they reduce the damage of it. Also, a 20++ hit combo isn't really 'rare' in a fighting game   :D
If they make it very hard to execute it, then it would be really nice. I hope they will really include Lion Heart and Omnislash!!!   :)

Remeber the phrase "Finish him!"?

Limit breaks and summons could be finishing moves.
