In FF7, there are three so-called battle texts. Enemy-only texts are in scene.bin, while characters abilities are in kernel.bin, but some of the text seen isn't in neither scene.bin nor kernel.bin and lie in ff7.exe (MNUs files) like, as found earlier, status ailments names, but also some texts that we could think are in scene.bin! Like this one, popping in the Bizarro fight :

There are other like this, I'm currently checking these.
Edit : Battle Square text is there, too.

Pfft. I came across this ages ago. ;D I'm sure it's pretty well known.
It should go on the wiki, if it isn't there already.
-
There's lots of text we didn't probably suspect. Each battle that makes a window appear has a text in there. Same for the battle square, so.
-
Pretty sure these are all parts of the battle engine module.
Could always play with them and see which (if any) change.
-
That's what I've planned :)
-
That's not battle text in the way you're thinking it. That's menu text that just happens to come into play during a battle. Battle texts are notifications like "LIMIT BREAK" and "LUCKY 7s!". Texts like "Worried about the other members?" is part of a menu.

NFITC1, which module actually handles the battle UI?

Dunno. I don't do PSX modding. I'm guess there's some battle menu handling buried in the battle module. If you search for those texts I bet you'd find out where.

Bosola, lets race. The first one who finds out where it is wins a hug from NFITC1 :P
-
The menu text from PSX was placed in the exe. I should know, I spent my life in the exe. Pretty much all of it is in there.
-
In the psx version, I meant...
-
The psx data is in the menu folder in various files I believe.
-
I was checking these, I didn't find anything (for now). Oh, yeah, the configmenu.mnu (lazy to copy the correct name) have these.
-
Those are part of BATTLE.X, so it's the battle overlay, not menus.
