Title: Strange things...
Post by: xxxgodz on 2011-09-21 16:49:03
OK so what happened was i was in the shinra building. And then i got to the part where red breaks out and then you fight that monster boss after. I thought it was strange at first because the boss was a demonic dog looking monster and i didn't remember the monster looking like it did. It was relatively easy to kill too. As it turned out, that dog monster was just a regular monster that you fight in random battles once sephiroth breaks into the shinra building. I continued to the part where you fight that robot on the elevator. I didn't fight the robot, and instead i fought that monster i was supposed to fight earlier in the lab. Then after that, instead of facing rufus one on one on that balcony area, clould was on the elevators and i had to fight the robot first, and then the monster from the lab. Then after the bike minigame part, instead of fighting that giant robot that chases you, i fight rufus on the balcony. And now when i fight that giant serpent near the chocobo farm, i fight rufus. Its everytime actually when i enter a fight against the giant serpent, i end up fighting rufus on the balcony. ????? does anyone know what the deal is and how to fix it?

This also happened to me, after installing the bootleg edit. I assumed it was just a mod I hadn't heard of before. And Cloud fights Hundred and Heli gunner alone, the full party fights Rufus, and you don't fight MotoBall. Really weird.

Well i have the remix installed, latest aali's graphics driver, avalanche, and a bunch of mods. The game is pretty much up to date with all the newest mods and stuff for it. The only thing i did was tweak the stats of a few weapons using the wallmarket mod.

The scene lookup table (located in kernel.bin) is wrong.  You need to correct it.  Hojo or proud clod can do that automatically for you.

On another note does anyone have these files>

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=7127.0  I need the binary and source.

I went through Bootleg and verified that the the various kernel.bin files match the scene.bin files.
Installing The Remix or otherwise altering scene.bin before Bootleg will result in a corrupt lookup table.

Ok solved my own problem.

Not really, I told you what was up and you did a search and worked out how to use Proud Clod.

Well i guess i didn't solve it because someone else had solved that exact problem already. I did however find out how to fix the issue with your help. You helped direct me. Thanks for doing that and replying.

My boss orders are all messed up. I have done everything that this has said and my kernel.bin says it is incorrect everytime with Proud Clod, I start the game and my scene.bin gets corrupted. I have installed the Remix, Menu Overhaul, FacePalmer, and some other mods. Am I doing something wrong?

When Proud Clod tells you the KERNEL.BIN's scene lookup is incorrect, do you let it correct it for you?

Also, how big is your KERNEL?

I do and it says it's corrected, I start the game and still same thing, when I quit Proud Clod says it is incorrect again. My kernel.bin is 22 kb

Run Proud Cloud as administrator.
You .bin files are most likely being diverted to the virtual store folder.

Good thinking, Pitbrat.

I am running as administrator and it says same thing.

Maybe the file is write protected?

OK, I found the culprit. Anyone else have trouble with New Spell Names in Bootloader? That is what was corrupting my kernel.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
I've recently discovered some kernel compatibility issues.
They are fixed for the upcoming 0039 release.

An installer was restoring old files from a backup location.

You're welcome, thanks for the help and good job on Bootleg. Really like it and it's great that even though Square doesn't want to make a ton of money, there are people out there that know how to make an awesome game and revive it and make it almost modern.
