http://www.dualshockers.com/2011/12/23/rumor-will-square-enix-announce-final-fantasy-xv-at-e3-for-the-wii-u/
Sort of outdated news but a magazine claims that the next final fantasy might be on PC. That would be interesting...it's been quite a while since I've gotten to play a final fantasy on PC :P
Just thought I'd share it. Maybe get some opinions on this rumor.

If I recall correctly, SE said that they were going to have the Fabula Nova Crystallis "series" last for a long time (10 years or so). I don't know if that plan was scrapped or that they'd go on making games in the main series while making the FNC games.
Of course, that could all be BS. And I'm all for FFXV being on the PC, it really lacks JRPGs.
-
i can't imagine an FF game working well without a controller, taking an example from FFXI's horrible keyboard setup.
-
Well there are PC controllers, and really great ones too, for example, I use a NYKO Air Flo EX controller, the shape, size, button placement/amount is very similar, if not the same as a Playstation controller.

Where did you hear that? xD
Last I heard they were unsure if they were gonna make a XV.

well FF7 and FF8 did just fine on PC. For those of us who uploaded our FF9 and FF10 discs to our computer, they also worked quite well without any controllers.
though i admit, games back then didn't really use the right analog stick so who knows. though a mouse is a perfect substitute for right analog stick + the other keys. Left mouse confirm, right mouse cancel. menu can be a keyboard option.

I use a PS2 joypad for FF7, via Joybox 5. There will be a way to connect your PS3 joypad to a PC surely? Someone must have created a driver?
-
There is a driver for windows called motioninjoy. It can either hook up a ps3 controller with a usb cord or through bluetooth.

I highly recommend this driver if you don't have a 360 pad. It has a 360 controller emulation mode that works much better than x360ce, and really comes in handy for the many, many games that do not properly support DirectInput but do support XInput.

i use a ps3 controller via bluetooth on my linux boxes using sixad, works perfectly fine. keep one paired to the computer and one to the ps3.. (different colors...)

Motioninjoy is phenomenal for PS3 controllers. You can use ALL of it's functions, motion sensing and everything (though how useful that is on PC remains to be seen). Wireless, vibrates etc. I'll never need a PC gamepad again.

a surprise?
hope it's the FF7 remake like i've been dreaming of for so long

Don't get your hopes up mate i don't think you'll ever see a ff7 remake from Square...:/
-
Not to turn this into yet another "should they, shouldn't they" remake thread - It might be nice to look at but unless they keep everything the same aside from updating the graphics it's not really a good idea IMO. I don't think anyone should want a remake anymore, and I would have killed for it from the PS3 tech demo up until recently.
With regards to Final Fantasy XV, I really think they should do something along the lines of IX. By which I mean bringing back all the old ideas and making them better, with a decent original story. Probably won't happen though. I was so incredibly disappointed when XIV was announced. Because it's online I mean.
-
I played XIV. It's like a Runescape that looks like WoW. I was so disappointed...
MotionInJoy is amazing. I think the only downside I have is that after I unplug my controller it searches for and turns my ps3 on
XV on pc? due to the limited capabilities of my laptop, I would hope not. but there are ways around it... and it has been a while since what I consider a decent rpg was announced for pc (I really dislike open-map rpgs where I can get raped immediately after the intro...)
if they did do it, I hope they avoid multi-platforming it. keeping them singular is best for the game.

I want a dream not a nightmare, that's why I hope the current bunch never make it, and to be honest, I think the people here are doing a more faithful job of things than they ever would. I don;t need to see cloud in 1 billion polygons.

Wow, it's my first post on this forum

and such a productive, useful post, too. well done!
and dlpb, I've seen you post this so many times I pretty much predicted the rest of it from "I want a dream not a nightmare" XD
edit:
so I just read the rumour you posted about; seems like the author of that page is a bit dim. nintendo have never run a numbered installment? 2 through 5? not to forget the original? what a dumbass.... XD

What, no love for 6? :P
That being said, the link given has merely taken their story from The Silent Chief (http://thesilentchief.com/2011/12/21/rumor-final-fantasy-xv-to-be-announced-at-e3/), which itself is only saying GamesMaster (http://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/gaming/gamesmaster-magazine-subscription/) has made these claims. It's like a game of telephone, and it's distinctly possible that GamesMaster was speculating or wishing, and that The Silent Chief has misreported. Without seeing the original story (anyone here subscribe to GamesMaster and care to scan it?), I'm going to take these claims with a grain of salt.

There has to be a balance .....

Hahaa I'd forgotten about 6! It's been a while since I had my truly retro FF hat on XD
and balance is needed, yes...
