Title: Troublesome FFVII Crash...
Post by: Catastrophe on 2012-02-21 06:40:41
Hello all,

First and foremost I'd like to thank everyone for any help/suggestions I receive during this whole troubleshooting issue. It's great to have forums like this one around.

Without trying to sound like a noob, I'm going to try and describe my issue to the best of my ability. About two weeks ago, I stumbled across an old copy of FFVII in a box I was going through. Needless to say, I needed to play it. A problem arose, that being I no longer had a PlayStation to play the game on. I turned to the internet and all of the ISO stuff. So everything was fine and dandy until the infamous Bugenheim/Cosmo Canyon crash. After what seemed like hours of searching through old/outdated forums and websites, I found gypt and got through it alright.

Everything was fine again, except for losing sound during FMV's. But hey, I can live without it. Well, here is my current issue. I'm stuck after beating Weapon in Mideel, where Cloud and Tifa are going through the flashbacks. The Nibelheim flashback works fine, but when I get to the flashback of Cloud and Tifa on the well, right as they look up at the stars, it crashes. It's such a bummer, I tried using gypt, but to no avail. I've tried running the program as an administrator (Using Windows Vista 32-bit), and that also failed. I've been searching for a solution for two days now. It's been quite frustrating. The only things I'm finding on the internet are other peoples save points, which I'm not really interested in.

I'm thankful for any and all replies I get on the issues.

Thank you for your patience,
Joseph.

So you pirated the PC copy to play it when you had working PSX CDs and could have loaded them in an emulator? That's a warnable offense here. And on your first post too. Shame.

The good news is you're no longer just a newbie.

The bad news is you're now a pirate, which means your fellow board members won't help you. Yarr!

As per the rules:

Quote
We Do Not Condone Software Piracy
Asking where to get illegal software or cracks will not be tolerated. Asking for support for the Ultima Edition or any other pirated version of the game will not be tolerated. Any discussion regarding pirated software is an immediate warning. Assisting people that use pirated software is also forbidden.

Since you own the PSX version legit, I strongly recommend emulating it (http://psxemulator.gazaxian.com/).
