I'm working on new models for Tifa's weapons, in no particular order

Nope. I've attempted texturing before, with little success. I'm sure I could probably learn it given the time though, but I've mostly been focusing on working on my modelling skills.

Thanks. I could probably use help on both UVing and texturing when the time comes, though I sort of get UVing right now - but I have no idea how I would make a texture.

For the glove i think you should do it like a close knucle no?

Of course, I was just modelling the thing itself first, as I would've had a harder time making an accurate hand in a closed or semi-closed fist

Closed the fingers on the model more, and made UVs and did a quick paint-over to get an idea of how the texture will wrap

My first attempt at texturing something, ever.
Finally got past the fear of it being arduous and just tried it

Used a close picture of a leather glove as a base, faded out and mixed it with some of photoshop's texture patterns and modified it a lot.
Opinions?

You've got a good idea of how it all works so far! Before you mess with the texture more, refine the model.

Update, moved some polys around (and added a bit more near the fingers) to make it match better with the texture (so it doesn't stretch as much), added the materia, and refined the skin and manually drew in fingernails.

I was considering making the fingers a bit higher poly (so they were less angular) but upon zooming out to relatively what you'd see in game it's not very noticeable

Got a problem, when I export it as an OBJ the texture is fine, but when I convert it to .3Ds with biturn it mucks up the texture

It seems like it's using the background of the uvs there instead of the actual coordinates. Any idea how I would fix this?

Use the tool PCreator to convert the model.
You have to EDIT | FLIP POLYS to fix the texture alignment.

Nah it's not that, I did that.
And how would I convert it WITH PCreator? I was using Biturn because I only see an option to open .3ds files, not to convert them or anything like that

Your texture and the UV lines are too close to the edge of each other. I'm fairly certain once you put it in game it will look fine (kimera might display the same as PCreator). If that fails, just scale down the size of your UV coords a hair so it fits even more so within the texture.

Ok, I'll try it out first and if not I'll scale it down. Thx for the help
EDIT: Edited the UV coords since it didn't work in game to no avail. The best I could get was when I made the skin texture encompass a much larger area, and the warped part took that skin texture instead of the gray color, but it seems to be very warped specifically on the seam for some reason, even after rescaling the coords and editing the texture itself.
I'm tired so I'm gonna give it a rest for now, I'll take another look at it when I get back tomorrow and hopefully see a little more success.

So how's this going? I can't wait to have a tifa who doesn't have two oddly mismatched hands.

I'd focus on doing all the models first and then worry about the textures.
Leave the "hands" for last, they are harded.

any updates bloodshot? is it possible to put the weapon model on both hands or only one?

I've done some work on the general weapons but I still haven't gotten the UVs to work properly for the leather glove.
It's only possible to put the weapons on the weapon hand. Theoretically, I could duplicate the model and put it on the other hand, but it wouldn't actually be the other hand, and it would share the weapon hand animations

i was messing with field and battle models in kimera. i noticed battle models have 17 pieces and field have 15. the battle contains an ankle and foot piece instead of just foot like the field. i noticed grimmys cloud has 2 pieces that make up the foot in the field model. its hard to explain without showing and you seeing. the feet of his cloud model are made of AAED AAED1 for the left and AAFD AAFD1 for the right. maybe you can use the same method he used to equip tifas weapons to both hands. like **ck and **ck1. ill try tomorrow a little tomorrow with her defaults. idk if itll work
edit
tried it. didnt work. there isnt a add part to bone for the weapon. i tried adding the claws to her other hand and renaming it to rucm1 but it didnt associate that part with the weapon

Just wanted to let people know what's going on, I won't be able to work on this for a while (if at all) since I'm pretty busy with college ATM, since I'm now going again.
I apologize that I haven't worked on this anymore for people who have been waiting for it.

Maybe release the models and let somebody texture what's been done?
