In ff7 there is a epic place for a side quest in the Sleeping forest caves in this pic: http://tcrf.net/File:FF7SleepingForestCave.png
If you see on the bottom right, there is a vine which looks like it's climbable and there is an open cave entrance on top of it but is unaccessable

Perhaps we will see this type of stuff once Q-Gears is much farther along.

um what about an actual quest to revive aeris instead of having to hack her and put up with silly rumors that don't work lol (surprised nobody has said this <.<)

as for ff8

A quistis love quest (much like zells) I mean there's rinoa an squall (obviously) ... irvine and selphie are solid... zell has that pigtail girl... even cid an edea have one another um... ... yea well I think you get the message ^^;

As a reward you can get um... a dark matter thingy to learn shockwave pulsar attack idk

oh why not have some dungeon placed on island closest to heaven and closest to hell with some all powerful angel GF rewarded by completing the heaven dungeon and some demonic GF rewarded in the hell dungeon

ok well that's all the silly ideas I can come up with (for now) XD

i think your ideas are far too idealistic.

reviving aerith is a stark contrast to the feel of the game.

and as for ff8 you seem to see relationships and love everywhere.
and kinda off topic but saying XD after every sentence just irrritates me

well they were just ideas nobody has to use them *shrug* but lets see...

regarding aerith that's mostly taken from what people already hack the game to accomplish and the like... there's even a guide about using her~ all of these would be optional to the player ... so it's not like it has to effect you right?  ::)

I think the most idealistic suggestion I had was probably the dugeons for the heaven and hell island and if that in itself is unreasonable as an idea then I appologise ...

however in my defence it was actually a direct result of the very first phrase which questions about adding dugeons to the world map ... otherwise I would not even bother because I couldn't begin to comprehend how much effort that would take...

essentially you could say by such logic that the thread in a whole is idealistic and there's no point in putting anything towards it (though I guess that would be quite sad)

I have since read up that adding new summons etc in iself to the games would be an arduous task... something I was not aware of prior to this suggestion (should that even have be the main issue) so... I would retract that for a means to draw the already existing apocalypse in said dungeon.

(as an off thought... if someones going to make these addendums to the game they would have to make them worth the players time right?)

finally .... regarding love well I am a girl so maybe it's 2nd nature... but my typing or should I be saying the way I come across? ... well should I appologise for being myself? ... anyway I've since fixed that but if it makes you feel better maybe a mod could remove the whole post and this one too lol

anyway sorry~ it's not like I'm trying to get under anyones skin~  :-[

now that I think about it I do wonder why you can never access the secret area in the training center after first visiting it... perhaps that could be opened up as something akin to a colleseum? by talking to the joker card player person? after all it is in the training centre... ^^

offtopic: well there are a few grumpy people here no need to apologise to anyone for acting yourself..XD
Anyways what are the tools here to make such sidequests? is it even possible?

Well I did add a little sidequest into the Aeris patch. It was only really small though.

Bigger ones would be a bit harder to pull off.

I had an idea to add hidden 1/35 soldiers around the game.  99 of em.  But never happened because placing them is impossible at present due to the coordinate system vii uses.  Waiting to see if Mystere has some way to make object placing MUCH easier.

It'd be neat to be able to explore Midgar more. Here's a potential hidden passage to a new area:

That is used later in the game... you use it to get to where Aerith dies, if I remember(?).  The fish moves.

I would like to have in VII some dungeon like the "omega ruins" and have there omega weapon or something.
Or expand the KoR island a bit to a hard dungeon.

Or all the hidden materia dungeons. Or at least give us a boss to fight, maybe even one that uses the materia we want to get ("though HP<->MP would be a ridiculous fight).

Well, would be really fun if we had to fight the Summons to have them join.
Kinda like, if we beat them they turn into Summon Materia.

Gjos hardcore mod adds bosses to the materia caves
I've no idea if it's even possible to add 'new' maps ( even if, lets say, you recycled an existing map inclusive walkmesh and just have the entry / exit lead to different places than the 'original' version )

I wish there was a way to make HP<->MP Switch useful.

There is. It involves editing the stat, HP and MP curves in the kernel though.

Let me use my mechanics overhaul as example ( scroll down for a too long, didn't read version )
Guard ( formerly, Cover materia ) at master ( 100% guard ) on Barret or Tifa ( 25,000 ~ 29,000 HP without materia at lvl 99 ) and Aerith ( my hack requires the fabulous Aerith revival patch ) on lvl 99 with around 2400 MP and 11,000 HP. Now, switch this. 2400 HP still lets her survive one or two attacks if she wears her ultimate armor ( everyone has one ) and with 11k MP.. you might ask yourself, what to do with this? Well, if you have an arsenal of 250MP spells and then pair them with boost materia, you need a lot of MP. And you don't swim in items as you did in the original. Nor can you easily restore MP with rare skills ( formerly enemy skills ) or restore them out of battle. Having 11k MP really does wonders. Oh and did I mention monsters that do HUNDREDS and thousands of damage in MP? Without HP<->MP, you're out of healing and magic damage dealing very quickly

TL;DR version: Game was overhauled after a bootleg install that includes Aerith Revival and Gjos Hardcore mod
Very difficult, very unique.

I say it often but when I make my hard difficulty mod, I am going to look at Breath of Fire III for inspiration.  That didn't need insane levels of HP etc.

Oh god I love that game. If only it were a moddable PC game so I could relive my youth in high definition.

If you build your entire game, spells and abilities around the 30k HP limit, it works just as well. It works also just as well if you create the game around a 3k HP limit. or even 1k. Up to discussion, really.

I saw that in Mako Reactor, you can actually edit exits of field ( and create new ones )
Can that be used to insert a new map ( copy of existing map including walkmesh and script. this can always be customized later ) into the field lgp ( ID 7xx ) and then place an exist in an existing map to that map?

I could try to create a duplicate map and edit entry and exists but... wellll. I'm okay with editors and great with patience, but I'm lightyears away from people who can actually script and code.

edit: okay, the way I see it, there are two actual problems. One would be to duplicate the map file inside the lgp, compile it again and then change the map ID so you can have an existing field connect to it. The second is to make a 'new' exit in an existing map to said field.

Alternatively, you can clone the ancient forest and have the sleeping forest connect to it and then the cloned ancient forest connect to coral valley.

Has anyone ever though of adding new dungeons and sidequests to these games, accessible from the world map and from other places?  Anyone feel like sharing their ideas, or doing some brainstorming on this?
I want to do that. Something ala soul of rebirth.

Come to think of it, didn't we have someone make advances on editing ff7 overworld?
