the current update makes programs for work, video gaming, and etc not compatable this means even final fantasy 7 no longer compatable
this means directx 9 and directx 10 no longer works
more details can be found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2670838 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2670838)

I was afraid it wouldn't run but hopefully it did... I'm on a 64bit system windows 7.

Is... is this tested that it no longer works? It seems really strange that they'd disable support for older versions of DirectX...
-
What? No, this only affects development.
-
Yeah, you're misreading this article. It only affects DX10 and 11. FF7 uses DX5.1 by default (which DX9 supports) and Aali's driver uses openGL. Why would this update interfere?

Thank God for Open Source Programs.

After updating I had to re-install my Sweetfx configurator because it wouldn't load. I didn't think it would cause any other issues to me but I had also missing textures with Sweetfx on for the new Tomb Raider. I'm going to test this now again after having the update uninstalled.
User Marcel confirms that after uninstalling the update Sweetfx worked on his Tomb Raider game.
