Can someone make a list of what the re-release enables us to mod and what is now impossible to reach?
as a starter, I'd say that gameplay overhauls (those that edit the kernel files) should still be editable. I am unsure about music now, FF7 music does not seem to do anything.

You install a patch and can then use anything that was used on the original game.
-
which patch?
-
I've told you... Kranmer's Ff7 converter patch.,
-
ow I know. where can I find it?
-
Right here. (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13429)
-
thanks. still not complete tho
-
What do you mean?
-
well it's a 0.3 version aye?
-
There is also a games converter tool which has the same function. Look at this (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14047.0).

thanks for that! so this new converter allows what?
-
It does the same as the 'New to Old patch'. But it allows other languages to work with the english FF7.exe (1.02). However you will loose any of the new (and most sensless) features of the rerelease.
The game will render in OpenGl2 (Ali's driver) instead of DirectX9, the change is not visible. The bad sideeffect is that the new musik system will not work, which means you have to use 'FF7 Music' instead of.
-
Until Aali updates his driver.... which then does the exact same thing as the new one.
-
thanks everyone. any idea when this driver will be updated?
-
Every time someone asks, he adds a month to the release date. :-)

smart. frustrating but smart :P
