I just got Visual Studio .NET yesterday and what do I have to tell you? I'm fascinated. VB now got kinda more powerful. Now it's got useful classes which brings it closer to the OOP system...
However, I didn't have much time to try around yet, but I'll see if I can try around the next days... oh, BTW: today's the football match: Germany - Brasil ... so I don't think I'll have that much time today...
Any opions as far as Visual Studio .NET is concerned? (I know we had a topic like this before, but this was before it was released...)

What do you mean before it was released? I've had it for months ^_^
And about the game... well, too bad, Alhexx. But it was a great game to watch :)
-
Well, fine for ya. I think I wanted to say "before it was released in Germany"...
As for the game: well, damnit ...

Visual Studio .NET was obviously rushed. VB lost edit and continue, VC++ build engine is broken, IDE has a lot of stupid bugs such as commands dropping out of the customization window, source code control is frustrating as hell to use, etc. I've really only used the VC++ component; the compiler has some improvements, but for VC6 programmers the IDE is a gigantic step backward in many ways.
-
Heh. I bet they service pack it before long. For now, I'm sticking with Visual Studio 6.
-
I don't know if it was a good idea to put all languagues into the Studio. It god a bit messy. However, in VB6 handling was much easier. And VC++ 6 was easier to handle, too.
However, let's see what VB .NET brings...

Foottball? What do you mean Football? I thought us Americans only had Football. The knock-down drag-out in the mud broken people football played with the good old pigskin.
Soccer? The funny sport with the socks all the way up to thier knees? Is that what you mean?
I hear there is this HUGE party in Brazil for some reason. Something happened in Japan from what I gather.
Not that I watched or anything.
Wouldn't be funny if America won the Word Cup and America continued not to care? That would just be *so* sad.

To win world championship in anything is great thing to feel. When we won the hockey championship it was like celebration for 3 days, everybody was smiling and such ... that was great, even though i dont like these massive sports :)
btw, we call it a football too.
-
Well the Americans call it soccer, the rest of the world technically calls it football. Unless FIFA changes it in order to not confuse the poor US citizens ^_^
[EDIT: Though I'm not to sure if "FISA" would be as successful here in Sweden - it means "to fart" 8) ]
Actually, I'm more concerned with what you Americans call football. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you only use your feet for the actual propelling of the human mass, as well as kick-offs -- the rest of the time the goal is to clutch to the ball (with your hands) and desperately try to avoid the rather heavy opponents, who share an intense wish of being on top of you. Why is this called football, and not - oh, let's say, rugby? :-?
-
Lol. American football. Kind of a rediculous game if you think about it.
-
Football , Soccer, whatever.
I was talkin' 'bout that FIFA sports, where 22 people are running after a ball trying to kick them into a box :D
However, at least out Keeper Oliver Kahn was elected to the best player in this World Cup... let's see if we will get even better next time in 2006 ... in Germany ...hehe...

Oh yeah, now i realized that we call American football "Rugby" too.
-
Geez... Even I knew that "football" meant soccer. AF is definatly a fighter's sport. It's simply another way to be a warrior, only without really killing anyone. Too bad some people can get seriously injured or killed in it...
OTOH, I'm a weirdo. I'm not into sports. I personally like Lazertag. It's the only sport I like.

Psst psst Ronaldo (world's best striker) scored two against him (psst Kahn never concedes two goals in a game till the Brazil one)
Anyway... England... hahaha guess they have to wait... Euro 2004!!! :)

I know it, I've seen it. However, he was elected to the best player...

had to correct tag code ... :D

And rightly so, I must say. "The Berlin wall", heh...

I think Kahn has improved so much after England's 5-1 victory over Germany... just look at his saves in the World Cup, immediately he should be the keeper of the tournament.
Ronaldo came in a bit late.... and he's not playing at his full potential. If he was, he could've won the Golden Ball award..... but anyway Kahn deserved it, I guess.
And I would also like to thank Sweden for knocking out Argentina :P lol I hate Argentina soooo much.
