Hi guys I have just recently installed my mods on my ff7 game and everything has worked perfect (used Tifa's guide and mod pack). However as I open the chest after the midguard reconstruction puzzle on floor 65 of the Shinra building I get the message "Received lvl 66 card!" then the boss music begins playing and the screen becomes black and never loads while music is still playing. The game then crashes and I get an error message "oops something bad has happened ect... would you like to save the crash file and all that" Anyone else run into this problem? and is there anyone who can maybe analyze the crash file and help me fix this problem >< I really like how the mods have updated the game especially with hardcore mode however I cannot get past this boss fight.

Hiya, can you post your app.log after this crash?
Did you install a break 9999 damage patch? doesn't work with menu overhaul i think

and yes i believe the 9999 break is enabled. If so do i need to repatch the whole bootloader process without checking the 9999 break??
-
Well, no. Not necessarily. If that's the issue than the way to solve it without the entire install would be to download a copy of Menu Overhaul and install it over itself, making sure to leave 9999 patch in menu overhaul unchecked (why the option is there idk, not gonna speculate) and make sure it is also disabled in your ff7_opengl.cfg
-
simply unchecking it in opengl config will not work? and just tried with it unchecked same crash :(
-
I think not, our next step would be to install menu overhaul again, without 9999 break. I am curious if the Menu overhaul installer will even run, it is almost a test of its own. If it'l run and has backup flevel file to go off should be fine.

gjoerulv has responded to this in his Hardcore mod thread: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=6818.msg198199#msg198199
Here is how someone worked around it before: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14019.msg196684#msg196684

thanks for the links. I tried the makou reactor overwrite of the field to no avail. I also tried to use save in the vanilla install of my 2012 version of ff7 (now i have 2 installs) however the saves for the vanilla one since it uses the launcher save in my documents/squareenix/ff7/ blah blah and i place the save file in there and when i start the game and try to load it it does not show as a load option. it deletes the file out of the save folder and makes me start a whole new game... since it is a local save it instead tries to sync with the online saving and deletes my local one although i purposely dont log in so that it has to use the local save. Still having problem I guess i could use black chocobo which i have never used before but i dont like to "cheat"
