Hi!
Well, I'm new here, and I found many good things and people gifted. (To replace file, doing new texture, etc)
I want to share with you, what I do with Sketchup and V-Ray.
I use sketchup for 5-6 years, but V-Ray I just use it for 2 months or something like this. And this plugin is just incredible!
I did 2 rooms (and also 2 tennis court, for the fun), but I will just show you this :

I learn everything on my own. My dream is : create a kind of Final Fantasy, like FF8 (my favorite).
But all alone it's impossible, by the way I cannot animate a human/creature/car... All I can do is doing environments...
Doing these 2 rooms (which is my living), took me... 3-4 days maybe.
There's only 2 things that I didn't do (I was lazzy): The flowers (but I did the vase) and the Dvd's on the second pictures (because it's a detail).
I knew FF7/FF8 used walkmesh, but I didn't know that was called walkmesh till I saw a topic on this forum. Walkmesh it's (in a newbie language) a 2D image (like mine) with a 3D invisible path that indicate to the character where I can and cannot walk, etc. Am I right?
-
Oh, boy... Your work is beautiful. We sure could use your skills here for ff7!
I'm learning how to do the animations, since it's something no one else wants to do very much. It's very frustrating sometimes, to try to shape a model's movement frame by frame and have it look natural. They don't like to move the way you want them to.
FF8 HD would be so cool. But I just don't see it happening. I really liked ff8 even more than 7 in some ways. But it is not designed in a way that is good for high quality modifications, as I understand it.

The walkmesh is only the invisible 3D path. Even newer 3D games are using some kind of walkmesh to terminate the surrounding.

Thanks ^^
For FF7, what do you mean, remake the environments with an HD pictures?
I could try it, if you tell me what kind of place/room/... to do.
But, if I'm the only who do it, it's just toooo much work. (There's what, maybe 300 places and room, or maybe more?)
By the way, the render in V-ray takes to my computer 5 to 10 minute to make a pictures.
That's why I do pictures from this size : 1280*720 (I can do whatever I want, as 1920*1080 but it takes more time for the rendering).
So, if there's only 50 environments to do : 50*10 = 500min = 8hours. Mmmm... It's possible lol but a hard work ^^.
Well, and a little question, I'm curious, this forum is international or there's a massive representation of a country? (80% of US, 5% of french, ...)

Curt, check out the Team Avalanche sub forum. You'll find all the information there.
And there is a good chance you'll be working on it by yourself on a per scene basis, As thats how it is now. But there are others that are doing other scenes as well.
Your work is beautiful and i'd love to see it in game :D

Ok, it should be cool, I got a lot of time, but people have to tell me what scenes to do?
I never had a FF7 (I only played FF7 with the PSP of a friend)
I can do the pictures, but I need to know the size? (1080*720? 1920*1080 FUll HD? or...)
"3D modelling of field scene screens" is it what I'll be doing?

I need to know, how Sapphire do that http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/Shadow0fIntent/platform2.jpg
He had the original image, than he just tried to do a better copy?

Haha, that stuff is incredible. Makes you want to jump right in and start working doesn't it?
-
Yeah I could try, I hope my skills are okay to reproduce as close as possible the FF7 scenes, with the technology of nowadays.
Just tell me what scenes to do, and I'll try it :D
Send me the original file, like this I won't miss a thing.

Please someone work on ff8 for once (instead of magochocobo) :P !!!

Sadly i don't think anyone can help unless you get a copy of FF7, since distributing original game files is against the rules (if i recall correctly)
You can buy it for something like $8 USD, after that i'd go to the Team Avalanche board and just say you wanna help. and they i'm sure will be kind enough to point you to what you'll need

Woah... :/ But I understand...
I don't have FF7... I have 2 FF8, PSX and PC, but no FF7...
Well, I'll try to do some scene on FF8, I downloaded Deling.exe, I extract some scenes, and I'll try to reproduce it...
I'm just wondering how to save my finale image... Because in the real FF8, there's a lot of different size, and I'm very surprise to see how the images are smaaaaaaaaal ! I know why it looks horrible on a modern TV ^^'
