Title: help would be appreciated!
Post by: Paranoidtie on 2013-10-26 20:24:23
I have successfully installed ff7 mods in the past, using bootlegger, however recently I tried to start a new save and every time I try to skip the eidos or squaresoft fmvs I get ff7.exe has stopped working??? If I don't press any button it makes it all the way to the end of the intro credits scene but never makes it to the main menu! I've scanned through the forums and have tried re-selecting the sound options in ff7config and turning off compress textures in bootloader, but to no avail.

I apologize if this issue has already been addressed but couldn't find much help in any other threads and feel I'm at my wits end. xD

Also for some strange reason it seems to work when I switch to quarter screen mode in ff7config??

Those are fine. Try this:

I use this to check FF7Config.exe crashes, but I want to see if we can get something with FF7.exe. If you find the error report, screenshot and post it.

I've finally solved it. ;D An annoying program called DEP was preventing the game starting after the intro cutscenes. You can search Google on how to turn DEP off its not hard. However not knowing much about DEP I usually put it back after playing, being somewhat paranoid as my name suggests. xD

Thanks to EQ2Alyza for help ^^
