Title: Hey guys having trouble
Post by: cmac3721 on 2014-08-29 23:55:17
I'm having trouble at the start screen of ff7. I just installed the bootlegger and got all the mods in green but I can't seem to get the keyboard to be responsive at the opening screen. None of the keys work, and I can't start a new game I'm not too sure whats going on or what I should. Thanks!

I don't have one on my lap top and don't have a keyboard in this house with one, I know when I press fn and enter it makes a weird sound when the cursor is over "continue". Since their isn't a continue file that's probably why it's making the "error" like sound, so in that way it's responsive, I ddn't have this problem on my old lap top is their something I can do?

Hm, isn't there a mod around that changes the default keys for ff7? I thought there was. Using a gamepad might work.

Has anyone ever tried using on-screen keyboard (windows has one) for this? I just remembered it exists.

If you can do Function plus other keys to use the numpad, you can work your way around it. 2 4 6 and 8 are the arrow keys, + is the menu, Enter is confirm, 0 is cancel, 5 is start, . is assist, - is support and 1 3 7 and 9 are the four triggers. You can start a new game this way and change your controls in the menu once started. Those changed controls will stick even if you start a new game, assuming you set the controls to "Custom" before saving (it will retain the previous set controls). Keep in mind the controls revert back to default in the name entry screen, though.

You can also use the keyboard patch. Either work.

Get a save from gamefaqs or something and see if loading that helps
Otherwise, just borrow a damn keyboard somewhere. How hard can this be?
