Yeah. I heard about it shortly after it came out. Not great reviews. Finally played it myself a few years ago. Couldn't even get through the first fight it was so bad.

This game's key feature is making me wish I were playing Sonic the Fighters instead. Now that is an accomplishment, as StF is a pretty crap game itself.

I remember playing the Japanese version when it was released - it had an interesting RPG mode. I don't remember it being the worst game ever, but it certainly wasn't brilliant.. When I got Power Stone 1 and 2 on Dreamcast it reminded me a little of Ehrgeiz, though of course Power Stone was much better :D

It wasn't terrible back in the day. I enjoyed the story mode. The fighting was ok...not the cleanest fighter but not the worst. I'd say it was playable...it's been ages since I played it though so not sure how it aged or how much I ignored due to being a child. lol

Playing Ehrgeiz in 2014? Yikes. Scary thought. I bet it has aged terribly. I wouldn't touch it again with a barge pole.. it had its brief moment.
