Please is there some one who can fix these damn shadows?
This is how it is on PSX:

That is how it has looked with The Saints patch:

And this is what we currently have:

It would be great if we could replace it with a custom made texture. As far as I know the shadow is in kage.dat and the size is modified through the models **ab file.

kage.dat does indeed alter the shape, but I can't figure out how. Mine currently looks spiky, but I'm not sure what I did to make it look like that.

To be fair, the psx shadow looks like it's having something done to it by the engine (blending?). Something that the PC version is not emulating. It's a case of a shit port. Aali probably knows exactly what's up there.
It's not the shape that's at fault; it's the effect not being processed properly.
-
I knew that it has something to do with the broken average shader. Ideally we could capture the call for the shadow and replace it some how with a custom made file. off course it would be great to have shadows which are shaped a bit more like the models, but have it looks like on psx would be perfectly fine.

I hope one day Aali will add real time lighting and shadows to his renderer. Or maybe it will be possible in Q-Gears.
-
We can only fix things on the current engine, I'm afraid that this is to much to ask for.
But with Q-Gears it's easy to add.

Only if have the pal version.

Only if have the pal version.
The black bar is there in the Japanese and US version too.
The screen seems to be slightly more vertically centered though, at least on ePSXe.

The PC port's shaders were never on par with the PSX. It's not even like upscaling to 480i did anything drastically taxing on the hardware. It's just the shading isn't automatic like the PSX does.

All these years later, and we're still finding flaws in the PC port.

Not surprising. This was a HASTILY done port and it was done way back when. The practice was "make it run and ship it" without proper testing and comparing. Most ports now-a-days (maybe not even most) at least try to have a graphic similarity between all platforms.
