See the video for his thoughts on the matter:

People need to grow up really. It was a badly voiced scene and the director should have made sure it wasn't. But the amount of time and effort people spend bringing it up is very tidus indeed.
-
I just find it amusing he's willing to make a joke out of it.
-
I'm not a fan of FFX, but even I can see that the scene in question called for a forced, fake laugh. IIRC they were all sad, and Tidus though by forcing laughter, it would lighten everyone's spirits and maybe get them really laughing. I really don't get why it gets any hate. The scene was meant to start weird/awkward, and it was.
-
The problem with the scene is that, between bad audio directing, script and animation, a lot of people didn't connect the dots that he was laughing ironically, as opposed to weird behavior that came out of nowhere.
He's a winner in my eyesbecause he totally owns the joke. He did an amazing job as Ratchet in Rachet and Clank, but he'll probably be remembered for this, sadly
-
He's a great Ratchet. I choose to remember that. :)
About the scene though, if the scene got remembered for the bad laugh and not WHY they had the bad laugh then there was something wrong with the scene in general. I get that it was in spite of everything that was happening and to get Yuna to smile and make a memory. What I DON'T get is Tidus. I don't understand or even believe his motivation behind that laugh.
-
I think the whole idea is it's meant to be awkward because they are forcing it and then they laugh genuinely because of it. But the forced part comes across as bad voice acting instead of the intended awkwardness.

That's just him responding to the laugh remix. He did go in detail about that scene months ago, even showing the script and everything:
