Title: Game only starting about 1 in 30 tries
Post by: nenne86 on 2019-05-18 02:56:14
Hello,

I keep on getting  the same error code each time until like the 20th-40th try the game just starts (with everything working) randomly. This is what keeps on happening: https://i.imgur.com/ertfVEi.jpg
I would appreciate any hint, idea or even solution to my problem.

Anyone at all with suggestions?

I've reinstalled the game many times, same with 7th heaven and downloading mods...

Also 1/30 tries is way off... I've tried it many times for 30+ minutes without the game starting at all

Have you tried the solution here under "Error when launching game"? If that doesn't work show the list of mods you have.

I had this yesterday was caused by my mod I am working on.

The cause was badly ordered hext, if hext is in wrong order it becomes a lottery to start the game successfully.

So if you using hext loaders, that may be why.

In the compatibility settings of ff7.exe (and ff7_bc.exe if you're using reunion/menu overhaul/beacause), enable the tickbox for "Run in 6480x480"

Trying to launch the game in the 640x480 mode causes my monitor to say "input not supported" and then i have to do a full hard reset of my pc. if anyone can help me solve the issue it would be greatly appreciated T_T

If your monitor doesn't support 640x480, you have bigger problems than a game that doesn't want to run.  Of course, since this is the first post you've ever made here, it might be nice to have the usual diagnostic info... game converter output, opengl config settings, mod profile... y'know, stuff that's actually helpful?

Hi, I'm having the same issues as the OP. This is my first time modding FF7 and I can't get this to work, here are several images showing my settings. Additionally, I'm running Windows 10 Professional. The mod selection are the default ones from the stickied guide on modding FF7 with 7th Heaven. Each time I try to launch FF7 and it fails, it creates an extra instance each of 'direct' and 'music' in extra folders.

Anyone have any ideas on what's going wrong, or more information I could provide if needed?

DraVzoL, CQZFOBU, zvwr9Do, YmeexDV - These look ok.

TxSM5dJ - Your resolution settings are borked.  It appears as if you're trying to run at 1980x1080 full screen.  If that's the case, you should change your X and Y window resolutions to 1980x1080, and return the internal resolution back to the default 3840x2160.  You may also need to disable the aspect ratio "preserve to fit" option as well... not all video chips handle that gracefully.  Personally, I'd recommend running in windowed mode and selecting something along the 4:3 (red) line on this chart (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_resolution#/media/File:Vector_Video_Standards8.svg) (1280x960 should work pretty well).

This is a known bug.  You can safely delete the extras when your load times start getting bogged down.
