Title: [FF8:Remastered] FMVs Upscaled + Color-adjusted (& EQed Audio) by KLITLIKA

Original PC (2000) FMVs were... 640x448
-> Extracted the .PNG images + .WAV audio for every FMV...
->> Up-scaled the .PNG using Waifu2x-caffe (UpPhoto) 4x with lvl 3 Denoise...
->>> EQed Audio for every FMV... (only 2 silent ones)
->>>>Created each FMV again using the new .PNG + EQed Audio...
tried to fix/improve Aspect ratio issues... also all black bars (grey) have been removed from the actual FMVs to maximise FMV Enjoyment

* Reshade is highly recommended to zoom in to get rid of the top/bottom black bars...
(& can be used to force 16:9 / 21:9 Cropped/Stretched for those that want that...)

BACK UP YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU REPLACE ANYTHING...

There are more than a couple like this, and it's intentional. For reasons unknown, SE didn't create all their FMVs in the same ratio, so depending on the source, we've seen 3:2, 4:3, 16:9, and I think one other pretty odd one.

Xeno said Cropped, but meant the video ends early... i hadn't noticed it until then... sorry about that...

well... it's a simple find and replace, once you already have FF8 DEMASTER running.

That why I'm asking for a guide, or maybe someone tells me why that error pub up, all that I have done is unpacked the zzz files using ffviii_demaster_manager, which is creating a file inside
my FFVIII Remaster and my not on C:\\
is in this location D:\Games\FINAL FANTASY VIII REMASTERED
So I replaced video files with the ones you provided in this post((Thanks for your job))
and when I click on FFVIII_LAUNCHER.exe it gives me the error message
and there is no way to play the game again without uninstalling the game and reinstalling it
So my question is how can I apply the changes without any problems

Post by: qotsaninsoadkorn on 2020-03-07 06:16:25: oh you only need that tutorial pdf if you are making the modpacks pretty much... also it's a bit outdated already, since the demaster code got updated over time by maki... and if you still want it try grabbing the first public release of that tool...
basically once the main.zzz + other.zzz are unpacked and the game has the mod to run in extracted mode... locating the orig FMVs is quite easy, then you only need to backup and replace with the desired upgrades...

sounds like your NOT using the latest version of the game...
(pirated releases are all based on the launch version i would assume, and thus unless you actually get the game, the DEMASTER code by MAKI will keep crashing... since important changes happened to the game that MAKI had to workaround...)

Post by: qotsaninsoadkorn on 2020-03-17 13:37:44: so since making these i ended up using jPSXdec to grab the PSX version's audio from those FMVs and now feel obliged to re-do these all using that audio instead... probably going to hold off until i make the 4K version of these i guess... #soon if demand is there...

you never mentioned which FMV crashed on you.
If nothing worked at all, i'd assume there was a problem during installation,
and wonder if you have used other Maki's Demaster based mods successfully...

I have a mixture of FMV mods i’m using atm lol. 4k intro video from Maximum FMV, Darziak’s for Disc 1-3 & Klitlika’s for Disc 4. I absolutely cannot wait for the new Angelwing, these look amazing. Top notch work Mcindus and everyone else involved!

pretty sure mine is now inferior... just gotta wait for disc 4...
ideally we'd also look at capturing the PSX FMV Audio perhaps using my old PSX and the debug room with the FMV viewer... i might need to get a memory card again though...

Post by: thephonypope on 2025-01-05 17:31:16: Thanks for posting all these, just thought I'd add a quick warning for anyone looking at these that you should definitely check the KLITLIKA alternative audio tracks before using them - they aren't minor tweaks to improve anything they add completely different music by Faith No More (I'm really not sure how this would appeal to anyone but it is what it is)
