Title: Getting a strange error when I launch game.
Post by: dirksteele90 on 2020-02-19 04:01:50
Hello! I followed installation exactly but the only thing that may have been funky is i cut and pasted my whole program files x86/steam folder into my c:games folder. I am getting this error:

Error starting FF7
---------------------------
System.ApplicationException: STATUS_INTERNAL_ERROR: Unknown error in injected assembler code. (Code: 5)

Any idea what this could be?

You can't do that; while some programs are 'portable' and can be moved around, a lot of applications that require an installation are creating entries within the registry so the PC knows where to find them. If you move them out of their intended location, then it'll likely fail to run.

Uninstall the game/run game converter to uninstall its changes. Then in Steam, specify your new installation directory as the games folder you made. It doesn't matter if you have games installed elsewhere, Steam can install games to multiple locations. Once that's done, follow the 7h process of running the game converter etc.

The code 5 error is fixed in 7th Heaven 2.0. Also if you installed to the wrong folder, 7H 2.0 will fix that for you too.
