Title: everytime i launch the game my custom controls get overwritten with the default

how can i keep my sanity and my custom controls.  Thanks!

Read the manual. Open Help and you can see how the controls function works as well as your exact question being answered in the FAQ/Troubleshooting. Or watch the tutorial video.
