Title: FF7 in Win2000?.
Post by: iosman001 on 2020-05-15 15:21:30
Hello,

I have an Anniliator 2 running the TNT/Riva patch version of FF7 on Win2k. It loads up fine, but when I change rooms (leave to another room) and it normally fades, the game instead freezes, and I have to Alt-F4 out of the game, which closes it. However, when I reboot into Win98, it plays perfectly.

Any ideas how to fix this or get around in? I really want to play in Win2k.

thanks

It loads up fine, but when I change rooms (leave to another room) and it normally fades, the game instead ometv (https://ometv.onl) chatroulette (https://chatroulette.onl) chat avenue (https://chatavenue.vip) freezes, and I have to Alt-F4 out of the game, which closes it. However, when I reboot into Win98, it plays perfectly.

Ahh yes, the classic "My highly specific issue that someone else will (probably) eventually run into has been solved, but I won't say how"

There is a sizeable old school community who build time accurate gaming rigs for retro gaming.

True (and if I ever get the time, I'd like to build a frankenrig myself), but nobody in their right mind used Win2000 for games because DirectX wasn't designed for it, and half the time wouldn't even run (I tried). 98SE was the go-to system of the time, possibly ME if you were a masochist.
