Anyway, happy hunting.

Patch Instructions: [This message has been edited by Threesixty (edited August 02, 2001).]
First make a CD-Image using CDRWIN (using the RAW-Option):
Start CDRWIN.
In the CDRWIN - CDROM Recording Tools window click Extract Disc/Tracks/Sectors to Image File.
Enter the Image Filename:
- for example: C:TEMPIMAGE.BIN
Leave all other settings Default - make sure the RAW option is selected!
When ready click START to create the CD-Image file on harddisk.
This will create the CD-Image file (C:TEMPIMAGE.BIN) and the CD-Image Cuesheet (C:TEMPIMAGE.CUE).
Extract the Patch Archive to the path containing the CD-Image file.
Open a DOS-Box/MS-DOS Prompt and change directory to the path containing the CD-Image file (and patch).
Patch the CD-Image file (IMAGE.BIN) by executing either:
For the PPF Releases: Use the PPF Patch Engine
For the P4U Releases: Use the PAL4U Patcher
For the older Paradox (PDX) Releases execute:
For most Respect (RSP) Releases execute: RSPatch
Burn the CD-Image onto a CD-R:
In the CDRWIN - CDROM Recording Tools window click Record.
Click Load Cuesheet and select the CD-Image Cuesheet (C:TEMPIMAGE.CUE).
Click Start Recording.
When ready: Play the "Patched" Game!
NOTE: For now only CDRWIN can be used to patch PSX games. A free Demo version which writes at 1x speed is available at Goldenhawk.com.
Maybe this patch is better? They finally listed it on the main page of PSXEmu.com

And to get perfect sound for FF9
Try this settings for the 1.35 version of Null2
Enable Sound (of course) Enable CDDA sound if your not using an Iso (I suggest making ISOs)
Enable XA sound, XA read
Inside Configure:
48000HZ, 16bit
buffer: 40 (you can play with this value...lower gives quicker response, but 40 seems to work OK.)
Block: 10
Reverse: (speakers are usually backwards)
enable VAG stream.
You can play with the other settings: but I suggest leaving linear interpolation off. And I think the Mute thing should be off, too. I haven't expermented with that, yet.
I've found out that having the enable VAG steam on will make the stutter sound go away in the Movies. Discovered how to configure Null2 here:

BTW: I've never had a crash during the Evil Forest movie....or anywhere else in FF9
And for those that are reading this post and wondering who the hell is this guy talking to...himself?
No....This is an answer from a post on the Eidos Forum...it's just that the thread that the post was in is congested with a bunch of Spam posts....so I brought it here.

And Nulls USED to crash when the air ship crashed into evil forest. But I think that is fixed now.
And I did use Null2's Plugin from beginning to end on the first time I played FF9. And it would crash on the movies from time to time. But when it would crash on the movies...it would just go straight into the game. It would really just skip the movie, not really crash the game itself. Actually I don't think FF9 really truly crashed on my system. I hear there are a few places in the game where a Savestate will cause a crash. Maybe that's what caused your crash in the Evil Forest?
I'm sure the cause of random movie skip was the stuttering that the sound had in the movies. I mean you couldn't even understand what was playing, it sounded so bad. And the movie itself would lose a lot of frames. At the time i tried the movies with the Core sound, and notice that the movies played perfectly. The problem with the Core sound was that the rest of the game sounded Bad. Null2's plugin sounded bad in the movies and sounded great in the rest of the game. Now that I know how to setup Null2's plugin so it won't stutter in the movies, I'm sure the game will run perfectly, now. But I haven't played it yet. I'm currently playing ANACHRONOX (all of yall really should get this game, it really is, as good, as Final Fantasy), Tomb Raider Last Revelation (I liked the Demo) and Grim Fandago (picked up this one cause it was $9.99, I would have never thought it was this good). My gaming punchcard is currently filled up right now.
One last thing....at the time I would hit the F1 key whenever I thought or knew a movie was going to play. If it skipped the movie, I would just F3 it. It would usually play on the second try. Also at the time I didn't know about Iso's, so I imagine the failer of showing a movie was due more to the CD's Wind up time.
