Title: Modding the orginal Windows 98 release?
Post by: Cael on 2023-10-11 20:46:22
while i know its better to be using the recent re-releases + 7th heaven, is it still possible to "easily" mod the orginal release by Eidos for windows 9x? i restored n old Gateway tower and im restoring it game wise to what i played back in that time peroid.

wha would i use on the old Windows 9X version plugin wise to enable mods? is there a mod manger that works under 9x or under 9x w/ KernelEX?

I don't think there's one unless it's something very old(and outdated?), but the original release works under Win10 with FFNx(well, the game runs without custom driver anyway).  I just can't make mods with 7th Heaven 3.x working...

I also think that it's outdated.

7th heaven requires .net framework 7.0 x32 and x64. Considering Windows 9x is 32bit, I don't think it can work... FFNx MIGHT work on its own on 9x, so you might be able to use a couple mods, but not most of them. purely graphic and audio, but even then, an old system like that would probably have a hard time rendering a lot of the upscales

This is the best version for modding, for sure

It's outmoded, in my opinion as well.

When it comes to modifying, this is the finest version.
