Title: Psf >>>> you!!
Post by: Sir Canealot on 2003-06-03 13:48:30
Winamp plugin here: http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/HE110R.zip

Psf files here:
159.178.254.18
giddyap/cowboy

YES! FFVII Ost = 800kb and it sounds god damn perfect.

Now heres the intresting bit... we can make FFVII play mp3s... how hard would it be to make it play perfect PSF files?

Any input guys? :D

Already been done. In fact, I made a config for FF7music designed for the FF7 PSF's. However, with ff7music the "playing mp3's" part is still halfway there. No looping. PSF's and SPC's are basically your only options for FF7music for now.

i would do it if it looped mp3s, then i would remake all the songs...instead of using a huge soundfont

I can't believe I didn't notice that the FFX PSF set had been ripped.
I noticed it a short while ago on his "To Do" list, but it must've just been completed.
Anyway, Neill Corlett is almost like a god to us videogame music fanatics!
And yes, Qhimm is right (He always is, isn't he?), the development has been very fast considering PSF2 was done fairly soon after PSF was completed.

PLEASE NOTE: Our PSF/PSF2 archive has been disabled by our host because it consumes too much bandwidth. We are currently researching methods whereby we can continue to offer these files. We apologize for the inconvenience.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Eh, so would somebody be willing to *nudge* hook me up with the FFX PSF collection? I can get an FTP server up in a matter of minutes.

Well, Neill's Website (http://www.lfx.org/~corlett/psf) has a list of mirrors, just go to one with the PSF2 files.
Or, you could just click here (http://ada.cnc.bc.ca/goodd/personal/psf/psf2files_9473629/ffx.zip)... that's where I got mine from.

You've got a big beef with FFX don't you? I think the music in FF7 was all right, but some of the instruments are a doozy to listen to. I must say that "under the rotting pizza" sounds 500x better on the psx than with ff7pc. The mako reactor theme is really crappy on the psx, though. What's up with all the high-pitched dings? When I first heard the mako reactor theme with soundfonts, I was totally freaked out on how awesome it sounded. But now those memories are just memories  :weep:

Oh..god...I'll be off to cry now!

the ffx samples in the psfs sound like they are from the soundfont that sblive comes with. i thought it sounded sweet when i first played them too. i wish i could go back to those memories instead of trying to make these midis sound better.
