Title: Scroll Mouse No Work!
Post by: Aaron on 2001-08-14 22:35:00
I'm using Windows 98 and ever since I got it (had Windows NT 4 before) my scroll mouse hasn't worked!  It used to be that when I scrolled it, it would scroll up or down (whichever way you scrolled) about 50 pages (usually a whole document).  I downloaded some IntelliMouse driver, and now it scolls down a page at a time - not as bad - except it only scrolls DOWN.  When I move the wheel up it scrolls DOWN too.  I have it set only to move 3 lines, also.

Anyone know anything about a scroll mouse?

Is it a microsoft mouse? 'Cause that's a microsoft driver only to be used with their mice.

Is the program you are using it in already use's it's own Scrolling settings? Acad14 and up has it's own Scrolling command. And if both the driver and the program define the scroll wheel, you get erratic responses. To fix it you would go into Wheel, Advanced button and path the program in that menu, "only turn off Scroll support on these programs"

Its a LogiTech mouse, but it had been screwed up so long I was willing to try anything.  Rarely, I come across a program that has it own scroll settings - and the mouse works fine with those programs.  But for everything else, it has the problem I described above.

Anyone know a good mouse driver?  :-p

I tried the "Turn off scroll support for these programs" thing ... didn't do anything.

Oops...forgot about this thread.

Well there's your answer. Wrong Driver.

Have you tried the obvious?

I don't know which model you have.

And before you load up the new driver, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall that IntelliPoint driver
