Title: Windows XP burning vs. CloneCD...
Post by: xeriouxi on 2003-10-06 11:19:20
Hi!

I recently had to recopy FF7 PC, as disc 2 was starting to get worn out!  :D

Anyway, I just copied it over with Windows XP's built-in CD burner. The discs had no subchannel data or anything, so I just copied the files on their own. The installation was fine, if a little slower, but some of the FMV files are now 'glitchy', and it's a permanent glitch as the original FMV files are OK. Now, as some of you may know, CloneCD has now shut down due to certain laws, but I still have the latest version of it. Is there a 'fix' for the XP in-built burner?

Windows XP's built in burner is not very good... you should use CloneCD.

Actually due to the new EU laws they sold their assests to another company
IE Elaborate Bytes sold CloneCD to another company to protect themselves

Hi!

I didn't know that they did that!  :D

Oh, and is there any way of editing the CloneCD image file without editing the other contents of the CD? What I mean is, can I delete a folder from the image file and will that leave the other contents an exact duplicate of the original CD?  :-?

Oh, and I don't like WinISO! (Too many grammar errors!)  :D

Too bad, because that's definately the program I would recommend.

I'd agree. Alcohol 120%'s virtual drive beats both Daemon-Tools and Virtual CloneDrive. The CD ripping/burning is alos far superior.

I use the newest Nero, burns anything I throw at it. But I hear Alcohol 120% beats out Nero so...

Alcohol and Clone-cd are both very good indeed, although Nero BurningRom works pretty well for me as well.
Too bad Clone-cd was shut down, I didnt know.

I always use either CloneCD or Nero, mostly Nero, but i'd say CloneCD is better, i only use Nero more because CloneCD always freezes  .
