Title: Help with uninstallation of the "Xp 100% compatible pat

I reinstalled FFVII, but i still get wierd MIDI's.. I replaced the gm.dls file with the 3 mb one which is supposed to be there, but i still get wierd midi sounds.. Any clue why? Must i do a Xp reinstall?

Check your gm.dls to make sure Windows didn't automatically replace it with a bad copy again?  I don't know how well Windows's auto file protection works against the gm.dls.

I remember seeing a post on these forums about this, but I can't find it right now...

You can disable Windows File Protection by setting SFCDisable (REG_DWORD) in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon to 1
