You mean it goes to a black screen for a few seconds and then returns you to your desktop?

I've seen this happen when you try and select a video mode that is not supported by your vid card or drivers.  Does the game run in software rendering mode?

The first step is to run the game in Softwaremode......

I don't know how you configured the FF7config.exe. But if you trying to get Hardwaremode working first, that's a mistake, for this port.

Off the record....I'd tell you to get ePSXe, learn how to use it....and get the PS version of FF7.

yeah well the FF7config wont open and i think that might be the problem since it automatically opens the first time you run the game.  I just dont know why it wont open and im getting really frustrated

Download the Tntpatch and use that FF7config.exe file.....leave the FF7.exe file alone.

See if that works.
