Title: Graphics improvements
Post by: Darkdevil on 2004-04-03 16:15:54
Hey, i was wondering if there was any way to improve the graphics and get rid on all the jagged edged in the battle scenes?

In the Leviathan veiwer they are all smooth and sleek, but in battle they are really quite bad, yet on my old PC it ran fine...no jagged edges at all

my pc is a

2.6 HT pentium 4
512 MB ram
120 Gig HD
ATI Radeon 9600 256mb gfx card
WINXP

My old Pc is a
350Mhz P2
Ati Rage Pro 2x
6 Gig HD
64MB ram
WIN98

Any ideas how i can improve?

oh and im running the Chocobo patch too....

Thanks

DD

It's gonna sound retarded, but try running XP in compatability mode for 98.... Also make sure you get the XP patches for FF7... Also get the lastest drivers from ATI ;-)

XP compatilibity mode won't do anything for the graphics.
Don't get the AnimeVamp XP patch.

Check FF7Config - is the game running in software rendering mode or in Direct3D mode?  If it's in software mode, you'll get "jagged" textures... You should be able to correct this by downloading the 1.02 patch for the game (and selecting Direct3D mode).

It's too late for the AV patch...i did that before i started the game for the first time....although i uninstalled it so that doesnt worry.

ill look for the 1.02 patch

Thanks guys

You should check the nVidia box and select "TNT" to enable Direct3D mode.  If you are getting gridlines, check your driver settings and make sure antialiasing and anisotropic filtering are turned off.

Right ive upgraded my Catalyst drivers to 4.3 (Thanks JediMark)
Yet if i run it in D3D TNT mode i get dodgy gridlines and a weird pink/yellow/green outline round alot of things...
Have i done something wrong?
I cant actually turn AA and Anisoptic filtering off....it only says "application perference" and the option of 2 4 and 6X multiplyers....is something screwed with my pc?

Thanks

Don't revive dead topics, nobody has posted in this for over three months. Nothing else needs to be said.

So the problems on Ati is solved?

If so can you post a screenshot of the game?

No.  Its not installed, and I have no space on my hard drive for it.
