Title: [PC-2013] Edited Cutscene Causes Black Screen
Post by: MegaCowsamMan on 2025-03-15 00:58:17
Hey. So, I edited a cutscene, exported it as an .mp4 file, converted it using an mp4 to avi file converter, and put the file back into the movies folder. Within the game, the cutscene doesn't play at all, and just goes to a black screen with the music from the previous scene still playing.

The cutscene is still the same length as before, and I haven't touched the .cam file, due to my lack of knowledge with understanding what it exactly does.

When playing videos, you need to be aware that it's not just about extension, but format too. I am not expert but you have lots of format. Use ffmpeg to convert files and give the parameters to get the same as original. FF8 engine doesn't allow any other format, probably explaining your black screen.

By parameters, are you referring to metadata of the file?

Not al all. The encoding used, which can be a variety of values. Check ffmpeg if you wish to learn more.
