Title: FF8 'black boxes'

Apologies if this has already been posted, but I had a quick scoot through topics and I couldn't find anything related.

I think you might want to fiddle with your game settings. Those black boxes appear to be sections where 2d object/sprites overlay the background in the game.  So basically you are seeing what the edges are of the forground sprites.  It sounds like there is some transparency problem. Have you updated your graphics drivers to the latest?
