Machine specs.:
GeForce FX 5200
1500 GHZ

DirectX 9.0b
nVidia drivers (61.77)
I am serching for solutions all over the net and so far none knew what to do... I hope you guys could help me.

your OS?
-
Does it work in software rendering?
You tried using the GeForce 1.2 patch (available here (http://aaronserv.dyndns.org/hosting/ffsf/patch.html))?
-
My OS is Windows XP with SP1.
I've tried the nVidia patch (my card is GeForce FX 5200) - but the problem remains...
I've installed the game on another computer with WinXP (the card was diffrent - GeForce 2 V7700) - I got the same crash...
BTW... software render crashed too....
-
If you start a new game, does it play the movie before it crashes?
Did you do a full install when you installed the game?
-
I had the Same Problem in FF7. You need all the movies installed, or Edit the reg and make sure full install is set to 0 if u Havent. But i sujest a Full install
-
I saw the start movie and after that it crashed...
I did a full install and it worked..... that's that...
Thank you very much... you've been a great help. (unlike some unreliable tech-support ppl from EA)
Keep the excellent work.
Rike.

Excuse me, but how do you install the movies?
The installer only allows me to install the necessary game files and some "optional files" in which there are not the movies. Help
-
AFAIK, you can't "install the movies" for FF8, you have to run them off the CD. (In FF7, you can get the movies to run off your hard drive without much trouble.)
-
So should I manually copy the movies and then edit the registry?
-
If you're talking about FF7, read this (http://www.ff7-universe.com/Downloads/FF7Movietweak.txt).
-
No, I was talking about FF8, sorry that I didn't specify.
-
So, as I said... As far as I know, there's no way to run the FF8 movies off your hard drive short of using some kind of virtual CD-ROM software or cracking the game.
-
I bet that Ficedula might be able to do this if he tried, he knows assembly!

*Back to google*

1) We do not support downloaded copies of the game http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?t=3800
2) Don't resurrect old topics
3) Read the forum rules and sticky topics before posting it really isn't hard.
You will find no help here

oh well, looks like its back to google. Lame
