sorry if this has been asked before, but does the xp sp2 compatibilty thing fix the chocobo bug? i have already used the chocobo patch but it causes my game to crash sometimes...

SP2 compatibility does not fix the chocobo bug.
You still need the Chocobo patch.
The chocobo patch does not fix any other crashes.

The chocobo patch does not cause any crashes, it merely zeroes out a piece of 100% defective code (the cause of the chocobo crash). Thus it can be considered as entirely safe, as the game never had the original functionality to begin with (and obviously ran quite fine even with defective code instead).

Make sure you get the patch at http://www.qhimm.com. DO NOT USE ANIMEVAMP'S PATCH!!! It causes problems with your MIDI installation. Some bad problems.
